The final season of Outlander will address one of the show’s most burning fan questions “right away”, executive producer Matthew B Roberts has confirmed.

The massively successful Starz period drama, which features Caitriona Balfe as time-traveling nurse Claire Fraser, is coming to an end this year, with countless dedicated fans anxiously anticipating the season eight premiere on 6th March.

As anticipation grows for the concluding chapter of Claire and Jamie Fraser’s (played by Sam Heughan) epic romantic journey, speculation is running wild about what’s in store.

Since young Fanny Pocock (Florrie May Wilkinson) was brought into the story last season – adopted by the Frasers after her older sister’s devastating death – viewers have been flooded with theories about her true identity.

After being discovered singing the modern song I Do Like to Be Beside the Seaside, fans have speculated that Fanny could actually be linked to Faith Fraser, the infant daughter who was tragically stillborn during season two.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, the show’s producers have verified that these fan theories will be explored right from the premiere episode. “I didn’t want to make fans wait halfway through the season to get the answers,” Roberts suggested.

Nevertheless, while Fanny’s true identity may be revealed during the premiere episode, DNA analysis remains approximately 200 years away in 17th-century America, indicating Claire and Jamie might never secure definitive confirmation of their adopted daughter’s lineage.

Roberts added: “That one answer actually spawns about a thousand more questions, and those are what gets answered throughout the season.”

In the meantime, Young Ian (John Bell) is also wrestling with fatherhood challenges this season, as he reaches North Carolina with his pregnant wife Rachel (Izzy Meikle-Small).

“He’s ready and excited for fatherhood,” Bell discloses about Ian’s final storyline.

“However, there’s a bit of trepidation because of past events and worry over not just his baby, but his wife’s safety, as well.”
