Presley Gerber had spent years speaking openly about addiction, mental health and his efforts to rebuild his life. Just six months before his death at 27, the model shared a deeply personal account of undergoing ibogaine treatment in Cancun, Mexico — describing the experience as a moment when he finally confronted what he had been running from.

Gerber died on September 20, 2026, at a rehabilitation facility, according to records from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner. His cause of death has not been disclosed, and an autopsy is pending.

The circumstances have added a painful dimension to his final months, particularly because Gerber had publicly documented his attempts to overcome his struggles.

His family publicly stood behind his recovery

Gerber, the only son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, thanked the team at the facility for being “incredible, caring” and kind.

His family responded with messages of support.

Cindy Crawford called her son a “warrior” and said he had “walked thru the fire to find yourself,” adding that she was proud of him.

Rande Gerber also praised his son’s courage, saying that facing difficult things required real strength and that watching Presley find his way back to himself meant everything to him.

His younger sister, model and actress Kaia Gerber, expressed similar pride, describing how proud she was of her older brother.

A decade-long struggle with addiction

Gerber’s death came while he was at an undisclosed rehabilitation facility. Authorities have not yet released a cause of death, meaning there is currently no official confirmation linking his death to any particular substance, treatment or aspect of his previous struggles.

Only weeks before his death, Kaia Gerber spoke about her brother’s “decade-long struggle with drug addiction” in an interview with Vogue. She described the profound effect his battle had on their family and said she was deeply proud of the way he had chosen to be open about what he was going through.

“When something like that happens in a family, it kind of levels everyone,” Kaia said.
