Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Warned of ‘Ugly’ Showdown as Prince William Reportedly Plans to Strip Sussex Titles Upon Ascending Throne

The long-running hostility between Prince William and Prince Harry has escalated toward an institutional breaking point, with royal insiders warning that relations will take a brutally combative turn once the Prince of Wales eventually ascends the British throne.
Speaking to Daily Expresso host JJ Anisiobi, a palace insider revealed that Prince William played an instrumental role behind the scenes in orchestrating the Lord Chamberlain’s recent advisory letter, which formally designated the returned Sussexes as “private citizens” under King Charles’s authority:
“He’s taken it as a big win and it’s given him hope that his father might finally be seeing this more clearly. William is not going to stop pushing until the King agrees to take away their titles.”

Assessing the brewing constitutional confrontation, commentator Mark Dolan warned that while King Charles III may hesitate to formally strip the dukedom from his younger son, William harbors no such reluctance and will take definitive action during his own reign. Dolan noted:
“Harry and Meghan will weaponise any attempts to strip them of their titles because their whole grift is that they are victims. But as long as they are Duke and Duchess of Sussex, they can pretend to be royal, and that’s a problem for the family and it’s a problem for the monarchy. I don’t think Charles will strip the titles; I think William will, and it’s going to be ugly.”

The brothers remain completely estranged following years of public grievances aired in Harry’s memoir Spare and associated media ventures. The rift has been freshly aggravated by Earl Spencer’s contentious memoir, Swan Song: Diana, My Sister, which alleged that King Charles dismissed Diana’s memory immediately following her 1997 death. While Earl Spencer confirmed Harry was “completely fine” with the disclosures, William reportedly views the publication as a profound betrayal of his uncle’s historic pledge at Diana’s funeral to protect her sons, cementing the ideological divide separating the future king from the Montecito camp.
