Viewers expecting to watch Under Suspicion: Tracie Andrews – Lover, Liar, Killer were left surprised after the documentary was suddenly pulled from Channel 5’s schedule. The decision came following objections from the victim’s family, raising fresh questions about where broadcasters should draw the line between revisiting notorious crimes and respecting those still living with their consequences. But one detail surrounding the last-minute change is now becoming the focus of conversation.

Channel 5 has postponed the broadcast of a new true crime drama after the victim’s daughter spoke out. Under Suspicion: Tracie Andrews – Lover, Liar, Killer had been scheduled to air tonight but now an episode of Forensics: Murder Scene will air in its place.

The move followed revelations from Lee Harvey’s daughter that her family had received no advance notification about the upcoming show.

In the lead-up this evening – when the true crime drama was originally scheduled to come out at 9pm – Lee’s daughter Danielle shared a series of videos on TikTok voicing her distress.

In one clip, she stated “as always” her family were the “last to know” about the production. She said: “I am finding out through people sending it to me or on Facebook.

“What comes with Facebook are the trolls in the comments. I’m having to read comments like ‘she’s done her time, she’s rehabilitated, leave her be, she should have stayed in jail’.

“I don’t what to see that. I’m easy to find, I’m on TikTok, Facebook, Instagram. It’s not hard to send a message saying ‘we have made this documentary, drama, it’s airing on this date, we just wanted to make you aware’.

“We don’t get any of that. We are always the last to know or we have to find out from social media.

“I don’t mind these things being aired because it keeps my dad’s memory alive, he’s never going to be forgotten and it makes sure she (Andrews) is never going to live a peaceful life.

“Some pre-warning wouldn’t go amiss. It will be 30 years in December since she took my dad’s life. To people who watch it, it’s just another drama to them – to us it’s real life. This is our reality. It’s our nightmare and our life sentence.”

Lee was just 25 when he was stabbed more than 40 times by his partner and aspiring model Andrews in a brutal attack on a country lane near Alvechurch in December 1996.

She claimed at the time that the attacker had “staring eyes” who pursued their vehicle before embarking on the road rage attack.

Detectives disproved her account of what happened that night with forensic evidence which showed that she had murdered him with a Swiss Army-type penknife following an argument.

She was subsequently convicted of murder and given a life sentence but was released from prison in 2011.

Following her release, Andrews reportedly underwent plastic surgery costing thousands of pounds in an attempt to alter her appearance.

Almost 30 years later, a fresh TV production revisiting the tragedy was created for Channel 5 – but, just before it was due to air, the broadcaster informed BirminghamLive it had been withdrawn for “scheduling reasons but should be back soon”.
