Prince Harry’s Princess Diana Tribute Project Faces Setback as Her Two Sisters Reportedly Decline to Participate

Prince Harry’s reported plans for a streaming project commemorating the 30th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death are facing an early complication, with Diana’s two sisters said to have declined invitations to take part.

The Duke of Sussex, 42, is reportedly approaching people who were close to his mother in hopes of gathering contributions for the project. But according to a report published by Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice Substack, some members of Diana’s inner circle are choosing not to become involved.

Among those reportedly staying away are Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes, Diana’s two surviving sisters.

Diana’s Sisters Reportedly Step Back

Their reported decision is particularly notable given their close family connection to Diana.

A palace insider quoted in the report claimed that participating in Harry’s project could have wider consequences for those who remain connected to other members of the royal family.

“Diana’s own sisters saying no sends an enormous message,” the source claimed, suggesting that some potential contributors may be concerned about how their involvement would be perceived.

There is no indication in the report that the palace itself has issued any formal warning to Diana’s relatives or friends.

Friends Reportedly Fear Being Seen as ‘Choosing a Side’

The reluctance is said to extend beyond Diana’s sisters.

Some of her longtime friends reportedly still have affection for Harry while also maintaining relationships with Prince William, King Charles III and other members of the royal family.

According to another insider cited in the report, that has created an uncomfortable dilemma: appearing in Harry’s project could potentially be interpreted as taking his side in the continuing tensions surrounding the royal family.

“Nobody wants to choose between Diana’s sons,” the source said, adding that some people fear what becoming involved could mean for their other royal relationships.

William Reportedly Has His Own Concerns

Prince William, 44, is also said to be uncomfortable with the prospect of Harry taking a leading role in shaping a major project about their mother.

According to the report, William’s concern centers on the fact that Diana’s legacy belongs to both brothers rather than either one having sole authority over how her life is presented.

“Diana was his mother too,” the palace insider said, adding that Harry “doesn’t own her story.”

The comments attributed to insiders have not been presented as public statements from William himself.
