Patrick Clancy Reveals What Lindsay Told Him About the Night Their Three Children Died: ‘It Was Like a Dream’

Patrick Clancy has shared new details about one of the most painful conversations he had with his former wife, Lindsay Clancy, following the January 2023 deaths of their three children.

Speaking in his first major television interview since Lindsay’s murder trial ended with an 11-1 deadlocked jury, Patrick recalled asking her whether she remembered what had happened to Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and 8-month-old Callan.

Her response has remained with him ever since.

“She said it was like a dream,” Patrick recalled. According to him, Lindsay described remembering the events much as someone might remember a dream after waking.

Patrick Asked Lindsay If She Remembered

During the interview, Patrick was asked whether he had ever confronted Lindsay about why she killed their children.

Rather than describing a clear explanation from her, Patrick recalled asking whether she could remember the events themselves.

He said Lindsay compared her memory to a dream — something she could recall, but with the strange distance and uncertainty that can follow waking.

The disclosure comes after Lindsay’s trial ended without a verdict. Eleven jurors reportedly accepted the defense position that she was suffering from severe postpartum psychosis, while one juror remained unconvinced, resulting in a mistrial.

The Moment Patrick Still Cannot Forget

Patrick also revisited what he found after returning to the family’s Duxbury, Massachusetts, home.

Cora and Dawson had died, but Callan still had a heartbeat.

For a brief period, Patrick believed his youngest child might survive.

“I really thought there was a chance that Callan would live,” he recalled, describing how he pleaded internally for the chance to keep at least one of his children.

Callan was airlifted to Boston Children’s Hospital and survived for four more days before dying.

Patrick said he remains grateful for that time with his son, despite the devastating outcome.

Forgiveness Without Being Asked

Patrick also addressed another deeply personal decision he made after the tragedy.

He said Lindsay never asked him to forgive her. Nevertheless, he chose to give that forgiveness on his own.

At the same time, Patrick continues to live with questions about everything that happened before the deaths. Looking back at his own actions during that period, he said he believes he did the best he could with the information and circumstances he had.

“And I live with the outcome,” he said. “I live with it every day.”

Building a Future While Remembering Cora, Dawson and Callan

Patrick has since remarried. He and his new wife, infertility specialist Rachel Danis, married in April and revealed that they hope to start a family together.

But Patrick said having more children would never mean leaving Cora, Dawson and Callan behind.

Instead, he looks forward to telling any future children about the siblings they never had the opportunity to meet.

For Patrick, rebuilding his life does not mean replacing the family he lost. His children remain part of the family story he intends to carry forward — even as he continues processing Lindsay’s haunting description of that January night as something she remembered “like a dream.”
