Prince Harry Faces Difficult Conversations With King Charles After Surprise UK Return

Prince Harry may have returned to Britain with Meghan Markle and their children, but his homecoming could soon lead to an uncomfortable conversation with King Charles.

The Sussexes’ decision to return to the UK reportedly came as a surprise to the Royal Family, with reports claiming Harry and Meghan only revealed their plans around ten days before arriving.

That has raised questions about why Harry did not tell his father sooner — particularly because the King had already met the Sussex family at Highgrove in July.

Harry May Have to Explain the Decision

Harry and Meghan are now adjusting to life back in Britain, while their children, Archie and Lilibet, prepare to begin a new school year.

But according to reports, the move could leave Harry facing an awkward conversation with his father once the family has settled in.

A source close to the royals told the Mirror: “The King and the entire Royal Family have undoubtedly been blindsided by the announcement from Harry and Meghan that they are returning to the UK.”

The source added that Charles would likely be pleased about seeing his grandchildren more often, but there were also concerns about the reasons behind the Sussexes’ decision to leave the United States after everything that had happened since they stepped away from royal duties.

Harry and Meghan had already met Charles and Camilla at Highgrove in July, when Archie and Lilibet were also present. However, their reported plans to move back to Britain were apparently not discussed during that meeting.

‘Surely They’re Going to Have to See the King’

According to Mirror commentators Russell Myers and Jennifer Newton, Harry may eventually need to sit down with his father and explain why he chose not to reveal the plans during their earlier meeting.

Russell Myers suggested that once the Sussexes have settled into their new life, they will need to meet the King, either in London or at Highgrove, and explain the reasons behind their return.

The prospect of another meeting comes against the backdrop of an already limited relationship between father and son.

‘It’s Probably Going to Take Some Baby Steps’

While Myers believes Harry and Meghan should reach out to Charles and explain their decision, Jennifer Newton cautioned that rebuilding communication may not happen quickly.

She pointed out that Harry and his father have reportedly met only twice in the past two years.

“And you have to remember, there’s only been two meetings between Harry and the King in two years, so it’s probably going to take some baby steps,” Newton said.

For now, the Sussexes are focused on settling their family back into Britain. But once life becomes more settled, Harry may face a conversation with his father that could prove difficult — particularly after Charles was reportedly left unaware of the family’s plans until shortly before their return.
