Patrick Clancy Opens Up About His Three Children in First Interview Since Lindsay Clancy Mistrial

Patrick Clancy has revealed that he still speaks to his three children, Cora, Dawson and Callan, “all the time” as he continues to cope with their deaths.

In a preview of his first television interview since his former wife Lindsay Clancy’s murder trial ended in a mistrial, Patrick told CBS correspondent Ross Douthat that he continues to turn to his children for comfort.

“I talk to them,” Patrick said.

When Douthat asked what he tells them, Patrick replied: “Help me. All the time.”

He later explained that speaking to his children is a way of maintaining a connection with them, adding that he likes to believe they help him.

The full interview will air on 60 Minutes on Sunday, September 20, at 7 p.m. ET/PT. Patrick is joined in the interview by his new wife, Dr. Rachel Danis.

A case that ended without a verdict

Patrick’s interview comes just weeks after Lindsay Clancy’s high-profile murder trial ended in a mistrial.

Lindsay, now 36, admitted that she strangled the couple’s three children at their home in Duxbury, Massachusetts, in January 2023. Cora was 5, Dawson was 3 and Callan was just 8 months old.

Her defense maintained that she was suffering from postpartum psychosis and therefore should not be held criminally responsible for the killings.

After more than 38 hours of deliberations over seven days, the 12-member jury could not reach a unanimous decision. The jury was reportedly split 11-1, resulting in the mistrial on September 4. Prosecutors have not yet announced whether they will seek a retrial.

Patrick was a key witness during the trial and spoke about Lindsay’s mental health struggles before the deaths. He also described her as a loving mother, recalling how she would make up songs with the children and prepare special meals for them, including green eggs and ham.

Patrick has faced online conspiracy theories

Since the trial, Patrick has also become the target of online conspiracy theories and misinformation falsely suggesting that he was somehow involved in his children’s deaths.

His attorney, Howard Cooper, has described the campaign as a sustained effort targeting Patrick and his family with false claims.

The allegations have added another painful layer to Patrick’s grief as he continues to deal with the loss of his children.

CBS says the 60 Minutes interview will address both Patrick’s grief and the conspiracy theories that spread across social media following Lindsay’s trial.

Patrick has since remarried and now lives in New York. His new wife, Rachel Danis, will appear alongside him during the interview, marking her first public discussion of the events that brought their private lives into the spotlight.

Remembering Cora, Dawson and Callan

For Patrick, however, the focus remains on the three children he lost.

His admission that he still speaks to Cora, Dawson and Callan shows how he continues to maintain an emotional connection with them more than three years after their deaths.

When asked whether he believes his children help him, Patrick gave a simple answer: “I like to believe they do. It’s a way I stay connected to them.”
