WORLD CUP fans reckon Gary Lineker is psychic after a decade-old tweet slating Gianni Infantino has gone viral.

The Fifa supremo, 56, has sent shockwaves through football after making bombshell plans to launch and sell stakes in a sister company that will preside over the sport’s biggest tournament.

Infantino has come under fire from European governing body Uefa, who released a scathing statement, and supporters around the globe.

But England legend Lineker shared doubts over the Swiss millionaire TEN years ago.

The former Tottenham and Barcelona triker, 65, had fears Infantino would be no better than former Fifa president Sepp Blatter.

And the social media post has left furious fans in shock as they come to terms with the stunning plan to flog shares in the World Cup.

In a tweet uploaded on the day of the Fifa election, Lineker said: “Have this weird feeling that Gianni Infantino will pull off his mask to reveal Sepp Blatter.”

Football supporters have flooded online to claim Lineker had an accurate hunch.

One said: “You were spot on.”

Another added: “Gary Lineker was right about everything.”

A third claimed: “Think he nailed it.”

A fourth noted: “Gary Lineker was out there in the trenches calling it before everyone.”

And a fifth chimed in: “Only gone and called Gianni Infantino out ten years ago.”

Lineker was among a host of big names to slam Fifa’s World Cup proposal yesterday.

He reposted the BBC’s Instagram story and, alongside a vomiting emoji, commented: “Nothing surprises me any more.”

Fifa have promised each of the 211 member associations windfalls of £30million if they back the controversial proposal to move commercial rights into a new entity.

But Infantino has been facing fierce criticism since his outlandish plot came to light yesterday.

And the FA are not supporting the move, with a statement reading: “We were completely unaware of this proposal and no substantive details, including what the proposition actually is and what conditions are attached.

“Based on the limited information, we are deeply concerned about the lack of process and governance to get to this point, and the apparent substance and principles involved.

“When the proposal is shared in the full and transparent way now promised by Fifa, we will make our views clear, and comment further.”

But David Trunda, the president of the Czech Republic’s football association, is supporting Infantino.

The Fifa chief could take up a role as commissioner of the new venture following the end of his term in 2031.
