Prince William and Kate ‘Were Warned in Advance’ About Harry and Meghan’s Shock UK Return

Prince William and Princess Kate were reportedly informed ahead of time about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s plans to move back to the UK, despite the surprise nature of Wednesday night’s announcement.

Kensington Palace has yet to publicly comment on the reported move. However, according to reports cited by the Daily Express, the Prince and Princess of Wales were made aware of the Sussexes’ plans before they were announced.

Harry and Meghan are reportedly preparing to return to Britain later this month and will live at a non-royal property outside London. Their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, are also expected to attend schools in the UK from September.

The move would not mean a return to royal duties. Harry and Meghan are expected to remain private citizens and non-working members of the Royal Family, with no indication that they will regain official roles.

King Charles was reportedly informed about the plans on Sunday, just days before the news became public.

Despite the complicated history between the Sussexes and the Royal Family, the King is said to welcome the opportunity to spend more time with his grandchildren and see Harry and Meghan on a private, family basis.

Their return, however, would not change their constitutional or royal status.

Harry and Meghan stepped back from frontline royal duties in 2020, and their relationship with the wider family has remained strained following a series of public interviews, documentaries and Harry’s memoir.

Could the Move Affect William and Harry’s Relationship?

The prospect of Harry living permanently in Britain could put renewed pressure on the brothers to address their fractured relationship.

Former BBC royal correspondent Peter Hunt suggested that the Sussexes’ return could eventually create the possibility of two competing royal circles, particularly as Harry seeks to rebuild his relationship with his father.

He also argued that having Harry back in Britain could make it more difficult for William to avoid a potential reconciliation.

The extent of William’s reaction, however, remains speculation. There has been no public statement from the Prince of Wales indicating how he feels about the reported move.

Archie and Lilibet Set to Start School in Britain

According to reports from The Telegraph and The Sun, Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, are expected to begin their new schools in September.

The decision would mark a significant change for the children, who have primarily grown up in California since Harry and Meghan relocated to the United States.

For now, the biggest question is whether the Sussexes’ return will lead to a genuine thaw within the Royal Family—or simply place an already complicated family relationship under a much brighter spotlight.
