King Charles Reportedly Welcomes Harry and Meghan’s Shock Return to Britain
King Charles has reportedly reacted positively to news that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are planning to return to the UK with their two children.
According to reports, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expected to return to Britain by the end of August, with Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, potentially beginning school in the UK in September.

The family is believed to have secured a private home and plans to make Britain their permanent base again. However, they will not return as working members of the Royal Family and are not expected to live in a royal residence.
Charles “welcomes” seeing more of his family
King Charles has not publicly commented on the reported move, but the Press Association reported that the monarch “welcomes the opportunity to see more of the family” in a personal capacity.
The news comes only weeks after Harry and his father reportedly reunited at Highgrove on July 10, their first significant face-to-face meeting in years.
Harry is said to have been encouraged by the meeting and recently indicated that he wanted to spend more time in Britain to see his father and support his UK-based charitable work.
William and Catherine reportedly informed
The Prince and Princess of Wales were reportedly informed about Harry and Meghan’s plans before the news became public.
Relations between the Sussexes and the Waleses remain strained, however, and there is no indication that Harry and Meghan would resume official royal duties following their return.

The family will keep their homes overseas
Although Britain could become their main base again, Harry and Meghan are reportedly expected to retain their Montecito home in California, as well as their property in Portugal.
The exact location of their new UK home and the school their children may attend have not been disclosed.

For Lilibet, the move would be particularly significant. Although she has visited Britain several times—including for her first birthday in 2022—this would be the first time she actually lives in the UK.
A remarkable change of direction
The reported move represents a major reversal for Harry and Meghan, who left royal life in 2020 and subsequently built their lives in California. Harry has previously described Britain as unsafe for his wife and children, particularly amid his ongoing dispute over security arrangements.
Yet following his recent reconciliation with Charles, Harry appears increasingly keen to rebuild his connection with Britain.
If the reported move goes ahead, it could give Charles more regular contact with his youngest son and grandchildren—while allowing Harry and Meghan to remain financially and professionally independent from the monarchy.
