IF YOU’RE ALREADY MISSING THE OTHER BENNET SISTER, FANS SAY THIS HILARIOUS PERIOD COMEDY IS THE PERFECT SERIES TO FILL THE VOID — DESCRIBED AS “KEEPING UP WITH THE KARDASHIANS MEETS DOWNTON ABBEY ON CRACK.” While most period dramas are filled with sweeping romance, elegant ballrooms, and brooding aristocrats, this wildly irreverent series turns every convention completely upside down. Set among America’s wealthy elite at the dawn of the 20th century, it follows two hopelessly self-absorbed sisters whose obsession with fame, fortune, and social status creates one outrageous scandal after another. Packed with razor-sharp satire, absurd humour, and unforgettable characters, it’s a refreshingly chaotic twist on the traditional costume drama.

Fans of The Other Bennet Sister won’t want to miss hidden gem period drama

The Other Bennet Sister fans have been urged to binge another period drama as they await the BBC show’s return.

Fans of The Other Bennet Sister have been encouraged to devour a “brilliant” period drama.

The beloved Pride and Prejudice spin-off aired earlier this year, starring Ella Bruccoleri as the often-overlooked middle sister, Mary. Based on Janice Hadlow’s novel, The Other Bennet Sister followed Mary living a different life to her sisters, as she left Longbourn behind and travelled to London with her aunt and uncle, taking on her own journey of self-discovery.

It proved to be a huge hit, becoming the biggest launch of a new drama in the UK in a year. One fan, who is clearly missing The Other Bennet Sister, asked for recommendations for similar period dramas on Reddit, to which another user replied and shared their recommendation.

They wrote: “Another Period. The character Hortense shares the same family role as Mary.” Another Period, featuring Natasha Leggero and Riki Lindhome, initially premiered in 2015 and ran for three series. The show chronicled the Bellacourts, Newport, Rhode Island’s foremost family at the turn of the 20th century.

Another Period first aired in 2015

The pair portrayed sisters whose sole concerns revolved around their appearance, maintaining their social standing and pursuing celebrity status, reports the Mirror. Sharing their reviews, one person said it “deserves high praise”, adding: “Really, I’m flabbergasted this is not more popular.”

Someone else called it “laugh out aloud funny”, saying they were “absolutely devastated that this show got cancelled”. Yet another said: “Mid first-episode and I think I’ve found my new favourite show, and there’s like 3 seasons of it!”

One fan called it: “Keeping up with the Kardashian meets Downton Abbey on crack.”

Someone else called it “Keeping up with the Kardashian meets Downton Abbey on crack.” One fan added: “Most comedy simply doesn’t make me laugh. But there hasn’t been an episode yet that didn’t get a deep chuckle out of me. Not just a smile a nod but one of those deeply satisfying laughs that can change your day.” [sic]

This comes after the news that The Other Bennet Sister would be returning this Christmas for a three-part special. The BBC previously teased: The final episode of the series saw Mary agreeing to wed Tom Hayward, but fans will be keen to know what challenges the future holds for the happy couple…”

In the announcement, Jane Tranter, Executive Producer and CEO of Bad Wolf, said: “We always hoped audiences would fall in love with Mary Bennet’s story, but the response to The Other Bennet Sister has exceeded even our most optimistic expectations.

“These Christmas specials give us the chance to spend a little more time with characters audiences have taken to their hearts, and to explore what happens after the wedding bells fade and real life begins.

“Returning to the world of Mary Bennet with our brilliant partners at the BBC and BritBox feels like the perfect way to celebrate the success of the series and give viewers a treat this Christmas.”

Another Period is available to buy on Amazon Prime Video.
