The BBC has confirmed the future of a series hailed as ‘heaps of fun’ by viewers
The BBC has confirmed the future of a “lavish” period drama that viewers have described as “spectacular”.
The Lady Grace Mysteries will return for a second series alongside a collection of winter specials, according to the broadcaster, reports the Mirror.
Based on a series of children’s detective fiction novels initially written by Patricia Finney, with Sara Volger and Jan Burchett subsequently joining as co-authors, the programme chronicles Lady Grace Cavendish, the Queen’s clandestine teenage spy, as she navigates the “glittering yet treacherous world of the Tudor court”.
With Evie Coles portraying Grace and Rebecca Scott taking on the role of Queen Elizabeth I, the debut series broadcast on CBBC and BBC iPlayer earlier this year, and was popular with viewers.

The synopsis for the second series reveals: “Grace comes face to face with Mary, Queen of Scots, during a dangerous undercover mission to rescue Sir Francis Drake, only to discover that her feared enemy is a teenager like her.
“Determined to protect Queen Elizabeth, Grace sets out on a bold mission to unite the two rivals and end their feud once and for all.”
Fans of the programme have taken to social media to comment on how it “mixes humour with history”, with one viewer saying on X that it was “heaps of fun”.
Another remarked on the platform, previously known as Twitter: “It’s actually a kids show but I’m liking the teenage spy at the Elizabethan court. Great fun with FAB costumes.
“Each character has their own colour scheme, Lady Grace in greens, the Queen in orange/gold, another in purple, one in blue. NICE.”
