The boy is only twenty-two years old, but he did better than many older people in the auditions! When he started singing, the judges were impressed… But when it came to the chorus, there was no way not to turn my chair.
Jack Vidgen took the stage to perform one of Adele’s most famous songs.
In the blind audition, the judges had no way to see the twenty-two-year-old, but his voice was enough to make up for the lack of stage presence.
An impressive interpretation
Jack’s voice dominated the place as he sang “Hello”.
“Hello, can you hear me?
I’m in California dreaming about who we used to be
When we were younger and free
I’ve forgotten how it felt before the world fell at our feet
There’s such a difference between us
And a million miles.”
In the background, the image of raindrops on the asphalt further intensified the emotion of the music.
As the performance evolved, his voice only grew. You can see that Jack has a lot of talent.
He also has a unique way of conveying pain and passion through music. It’s as if every word of the lyrics had been written by him.
The reaction
One by one, the judges pressed the red button and their chairs turned to see the singer behind the voice. Everyone was amazed to see the baby face of the singer who had impacted them with so much power, emotion and passion present in the interpretation of the song.
They were impressed with the presentation. Even more so after they heard the boy’s story.
Delta had this to say of the hearing:
“When they said we would have the greatest voices of all, I didn’t imagine it would be like this. I didn’t even know that was possible.”
The audience totally agreed with the judges.

A story
By the age of fourteen, Jack was already a well-known singer. But it had been five years since he performed.
The talented young man interrupted his career after traveling alone to the United States when he was sixteen. He spent a year in the country and had to face many obstacles that came between him and his singing career.
Still at the age of sixteen, he also got to know a dark side of life for which he was not yet prepared.
All this made him lose his passion for music for a while. He began to doubt his own talent and ability.
The choice
When asked what he expected from The Voice, Jack said he was looking for a mentor. He wanted someone who could support him and guide him in his music career.
Delta offered to be her mentor. Just like Kelly. George offered his advice. Guy also volunteered, but went beyond the presentations, he set out to rebuild the artist, working on the emotional side of the boy.
They let Jack make his choice. It took a while for the boy to make up his mind, but in the end, he chose Guy.
The public thinks he made the right decision. We think so too.
