The Britain’s Got Talent 2018 semi-finals are underway – with singer Ronan Busfield among those hoping for success on Tuesday night.

The 33-year-old supermarket worker wowed the judges in the first round with his rendition of the West Side Story classic Maria – which saw him sailing through to the live shows.

He’ll be one of eight acts competing on Tuesday night for a place in the grand final – but just who is Ronan, and where might you have seen him before?

Who is Ronan Busfield?

Ronan currently works for Tesco – and admitted on the show he would like to ‘keep on’ working for them if things didn’t work out with his audition.

However his Britain’s Got Talent journey got off to a good start when he delivered an emotional rendition of Maria from the musical West Side Story – which brought the judges to their feet.

Four yeses later and he was on his way to the next round.

He’s now being considered as a decent outside bet to win the show – with odds of 16/1.

Ronan currently lives in Bedfordshire with his wife and one-year-old son – who were seen supporting him at his audition.

Where have you seen him before?

While he may be a supermarket worker now, Ronan has a background in music, having previously performed with the English Touring Opera and appeared on BBC Radio 3.

He has also had a few brushes with the Royal Family, having previously worked as a lay clerk at Windsor Castle – which at one point saw him sipping a sherry with the Queen herself, as well as talking to her about his opera career when they met outside the Chapel Choir of St George.

‘She joked that she gets offered lots of freebie tickets to the opera,’ he told Radio Times.

‘She went on to say that sometimes they were even offered seats in the private box…but she told me it wasn’t always a great view!’

Ronan also had the chance to attend Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding earlier this month through his involvement in the Windsor Castle Choir – and certainly made the most of the day.

What did the Britain’s Got Talent judges think of him?

The judges had no hesitation in putting him through to the next stage, with David telling him: ‘That was amazing…I couldn’t fault it at all.’

Meanwhile Simon Cowell added: ‘It was passionate, believable and I think people are going to root for you.’

Britain’s Got Talent’s second semi-final airs on Tuesday night on ITV at 7.30pm with the results show at 9.30pm.
