Missing Woman, 24, Found Chained and Gagged at Ex-Boyfriend’s Home After Alleged Five-Day Abduction

A 24-year-old woman was rescued from a property in Brazil after police allegedly found her chained, restrained and gagged inside the home of her former boyfriend, five days after her family reported her missing.

Emiliane Tamara Nunes Carvalho was reported missing on August 17 after failing to return home from a doctor’s appointment. Authorities later located her at a property in Águas Lindas de Goiás, where police say she had been held captive.

Disturbing footage released from the rescue shows officers forcing their way into the property before discovering Emiliane inside a room at the back of the house.

Police find woman restrained inside property

According to police, Emiliane was found tied with ropes and handcuffs and had difficulty breathing when officers reached her.

The footage shows police cutting through a lock before entering the property. Officers then move through the building and eventually kick down the door of a room.

Inside, Emiliane can be seen shaking as she lies on a mattress, restrained by multiple ropes and chains. She appears to have a mask and gag over her face.

The rescue took place on Friday, five days after she was reported missing. Emiliane was subsequently taken to hospital and has since been discharged.

Authorities allege that her former partner, Ailton Rodrigues de Souza, was responsible for the kidnapping.

Police believe Souza refused to accept the end of their relationship and allegedly abducted Emiliane before taking her to the property and holding her captive.

Emiliane alleges she was assaulted

After leaving hospital, Emiliane said on social media on Saturday that she was continuing to recover from her injuries.

She said she was still taking medication and claimed that her wounds had affected her ability to see.

Emiliane also alleged that she had been assaulted while being held at the property. She claimed her former partner used burning cloths to injure her skin.

Police say Souza has allegedly admitted drugging Emiliane before taking her to the house.

Suspect allegedly staged his own disappearance

Investigators also became suspicious of Souza after members of his own family reported him missing.

Authorities allege that he deliberately staged his disappearance in an attempt to draw attention away from himself while Emiliane was being held captive.

Souza was arrested on the same day police found Emiliane. Local authorities reportedly said he resisted officers during his detention.

Following a search of the run-down property, police seized a 9mm pistol, sedatives and various items allegedly used to restrain the woman.

The investigation remains ongoing.
