Princess Lilibet Shares a Sentimental Hobby with Aunt Princess Kate as Sussexes Settle in the UK
As Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s five-year-old daughter, Princess Lilibet, adapts happily to school life in the United Kingdom following the family’s move in August, a subtle photographic detail has revealed an endearing shared passion between the young royal and her aunt, Catherine, Princess of Wales.
In a candid black-and-white family photograph shared to mark Prince Harry’s 42nd birthday earlier this month, Lili was pictured behind the lens using a vintage Polaroid camera to photograph her father. Dressed in a summer floral dress with her long auburn hair flowing loose, the young princess displayed an intuitive eye for framing, carefully angling the camera upward to capture Harry smiling beneath a wide-brimmed straw hat. The moment marked another creative outing for Lili, following a social video shared by Meghan earlier this year where the young royal received formal credit for filming her dancing parents.
The emerging hobby draws a direct creative parallel to the Princess of Wales, who has earned widespread admiration for her accomplished amateur photography and her tradition of capturing the official birthday portraits of Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. An Art History graduate from the University of St Andrews and royal patron of the Royal Photographic Society, Kate has frequently highlighted how family life inspires her craft:
“I am very much an amateur photographer. I’ve sort of learned along the way, but during this time I’ve spent lots of time picking up my camera and taking photographs of the children because they are always around us when we are doing stuff together, which has been great.”
