Liverpool’s LMA dancers earn Golden Buzzer on Britain’s Got Talent and advance straight to the final
Liverpool talent took centre stage on Britain’s Got Talent as dancers from Liverpool Media Academy (LMA) delivered a standout performance that earned them a coveted Golden Buzzer and a direct place in the final.
Performing as Sadeck Berrabah & LMA, the 66-member group impressed judges and audience alike with a highly synchronized routine that showcased precision, teamwork and intricate choreography.
Their performance proved to be one of the defining moments of the night, with the judges rising to their feet in appreciation.
Alesha Dixon sends the group straight through
After previously revealing that she would have awarded the act a Golden Buzzer during the audition stage, Alesha Dixon did not hesitate when given another opportunity.
Describing the Liverpool dancers as a “breath of fresh air,” she pressed the Golden Buzzer, securing their place in the competition’s grand final.
The decision means the group will bypass the public vote and move directly to the final, where they will compete for the show’s top prize and the opportunity to perform at the Royal Variety Performance.
Simon Cowell praises the performance
The act also received high praise from Simon Cowell, who described the routine as “gobsmackingly beautiful.”
Cowell went on to call it one of the strongest performances seen during the live shows, highlighting the impact the group had on both the judges and the audience.
Their success marked another major milestone for LMA and added to Liverpool’s reputation for producing talented performers across the creative industries.
Months of preparation behind the performance
According to Kemal Kuguloglu, Head of Department (Dance) at LMA, the achievement was the result of weeks of hard work and dedication from the students involved.
“The students are thrilled to be part of the finals of Britain’s Got Talent, and I share their excitement,” he said.
“They have worked tirelessly for weeks to perfect a highly challenging piece of choreography, alongside the added pressure of incorporating props and performing tightly synchronised movements, where any mistake affects the whole group.”
Kuguloglu explained that the performers came from across LMA’s dance programmes, including second-year and third-year undergraduate students as well as postgraduate Master’s students.
Despite the demands of preparing for the competition, the dancers continued attending their regular classes while also rehearsing for end-of-year performances and developing an original routine with a renowned choreographer.
A proud moment for LMA and Liverpool
Reflecting on the Golden Buzzer moment, Kuguloglu praised the professionalism and commitment demonstrated by the students throughout the process.
“The level of professionalism, dedication, and commitment instilled in them throughout their studies at LMA was truly evident when they received the final buzzer,” he said.
“I am incredibly proud of them all.”
The performance represented a significant achievement not only for the dancers themselves but also for Liverpool, with LMA once again showcasing the city’s ability to produce outstanding creative talent.
While the remaining acts continue competing for places in the final through the public vote, the Liverpool dancers can already celebrate securing their spot in the competition’s final stage after a memorable Golden Buzzer moment.
