Netflix has at last announced the release date for Outer Banks Season 5, which will bring the streaming platform’s most successful series to its dramatic finale.
Based in a wealthy coastal town in North Carolina, the beloved teen drama chronicles two opposing groups, the Kooks and the Pogues, as they undertake a perilous treasure hunt.
When Pogues leader John B Routledge (portrayed by Chase Stokes) discovers his father has disappeared, he embarks on a quest to locate him, only to stumble upon clues to a mythical treasure while developing feelings for rebellious Kook Sarah Cameron (Madelyn Cline).

Having confirmed the final season wrapped filming in April, Netflix has now disclosed that Outer Banks Season 5 will premiere on Thursday, August 20, reports the Mirror.

Alongside the release date, Netflix has also treated fans to their initial look at the dramatic conclusion through several first-look photographs and a compelling teaser trailer.
All beloved characters will be making a comeback, save for one following the heartbreaking end of Season 4.

A synopsis reveals: “Season 5 finds the Pogues at their absolute breaking point following the tragic loss of JJ (Rudy Pankow) in Morocco.
“Stranded far from home and mourning the heart of their crew, they’ve lost the Blue Crown and continue to face a gauntlet of familiar threats.”

Returning for one final journey are Kiara (Madison Bailey), Pope (Jonathan Daviss), Cleo (Carlacia Grant), and Rafe (Drew Starkey). Meanwhile, JJ’s murderer – his own father Chandler Groff (J. Anthony Crane) – remains on the run, while Dalia (Pollyanna McIntosh) and the Corsairs pursue the Pogues relentlessly.
