The City of New York has issued an official punishment to the Knicks fan caught stealing a championship-themed trash can during the NBA Finals parade.
The Knicks fan, identified by the New York Post as 40-year-old Angie Báez, was publicly identified on Tuesday. She has been let go from her job, according to the report. Baez had a high-paying role in New York City.
“Angie Báez, 40, was promoted to Executive Director of Community and Industry Engagement for Card and Connected Commerce at JPMorgan Chase more than a year ago, according to her LinkedIn profile,” the New York Post reported.
“She previously served as Executive Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at New York-based review website The Infatuation, which Chase acquired as part of its broader push into lifestyle and experiential content.”

But she’s not just out of a job.
According to a report from TMZ Sports, the 40-year-old Knicks fan has been issued an official fine, as well.

The fan received fines close to $200.
“TMZ has learned the celebratory Knicks trash can was returned to New York City’s Department of Sanitation Wednesday morning … and, the trash bandit behind the ordeal was issued two summonses … including a $75 littering ticket and a $100 ticket for impeding DSNY operations,” TMZ Sports reported.
“We’re told the fines are the maximum allowed by law for first offenses.”
Meanwhile, the New York Police Department is not planning on pursuing further charges against the Knicks fan, so it seems like the matter is probably closed for now.
