A gripping murder mystery is heading to BBC iPlayer and BBC One.

I, Jack Wright, featuring Nikki Amuka-Bird and John Simm, has been hailed as a “terrific family thriller” packed with unexpected twists and turns.

Penned by Chris Lang, the writer behind Unforgotten, Innocent, The Thief, His Wife and the Canoe, I, Jack Wright originally launched in April 2025 on UandAlibi before being snapped up by the BBC.

This means not only will the first series be reshown on the channel, but a second series – currently in production – has also been secured.

The compelling whodunnit centres on the explosive aftermath facing a wealthy family following the sudden and suspicious death of patriarch Jack Wright, reports The Mirror.

The programme boasts a perfect 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with one critic noting: “Finally a thoroughly excellent story, told with sharpness and high tension… and at no point did any character have me yelling ‘no-one acts that way! Why would you do that?!’ – the way 98% of modern drama does.

“Every character consistent, true to their own story. Right up to the last moment. Great stuff.”

I, Jack Wright, starts on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Sunday, July 12 at 9:15pm.
