💔 FANS FELL IN LOVE WITH THIS PERFECT-RATED DRAMA—THEN IT WAS CANCELLED AFTER JUST ONE SEASON. Praised as an emotional rollercoaster and earning a perfect critics’ score, the series quickly built a loyal following. But despite the acclaim, Prime Video has reportedly decided not to renew it, leaving its story unfinished.

Prime Video has reportedly cancelled a drama series, leaving fans devastated as the mystery remains.

Streaming behemoth Prime Video has discreetly axed a drama lauded as an “emotional rollercoaster” following just a single series. According to Deadline, the eight-episode show, which charts the journey of a newly-divorced woman and a recently-widowed man as they navigate the possibility of romance, won’t be returning.

The series only debuted at the beginning of 2026, but widespread reports confirm there won’t be a second run, leaving the couple’s story unresolved. The programme in question is ‘It’s Not Like That’, which sits alongside major successes such as Clarkson’s Farm.

Deadline noted: “The cancellation of It’s Not Like That is somewhat surprising. In addition to its strong reviews, it seems to have been doing well. Prime Video is not releasing viewership numbers, but it started putting out weekly Top 10 rankings, and the first one, which came out June 3, featured It’s Not Like That at No. 9 on the global series list.”

Wales Online has approached Prime Video for comment on the cancellation, which has sparked fury amongst viewers.

On X, previously known as Twitter, one viewer wrote: “@PrimeVideo what is this you are doing, cancelling #ItsNotLikeThat?! Great TV. Great writing! Great talent! We have loved this. Why are you doing this? ! Bring it back! Bring it back!”

Meanwhile on Reddit, another remarked: “I actually found it charming and was hoping for more. It was extremely corny, though.”

The final episode showed recently widowed minister Malcolm (portrayed by Scott Foley) at last declaring his emotions for Lori (Erinn Hayes), though this proved to be merely a fantasy.

Viewers will remain in the dark about whether Malcolm ultimately chose to confess his genuine feelings for Lori.

Prior to the programme’s axing, one supporter wrote on IMDb reviews that they would be “absolutely devastated” if it wasn’t recommissioned. They wrote: “I love everything about this show, and will be absolutely devastated if it’s not renewed! It was a beautiful ride through faith, family, friendship, love, relationships.”

Another audience member remarked: “It’s not overly dramatised and doesn’t give you that feeling that the producers are trying too hard for ratings.

“Character development met with healthy emotional moments had me reflecting on my own life and really connecting with the families and their circumstances.

“It was a breath of fresh air in the sense that families of all ages could watch this together without having any inappropriate content to worry about.”

A final supporter pleaded: “Please renew this! This show is so raw and emotional and everything I didn’t know that I needed right now. I cried, I laughed, I felt all the emotions with these 2 families.”

It’s Not Like That is available on Prime Video.
