WREXHAM suffered a final day full of twists, turns and drama as they agonisingly MISSED OUT on the play-offs.
The Welsh outfit knew pre-game victory would rubberstamp sixth spot and with that secure a shot at reaching the Premier League.
But despite picking up a point in a 2-2 draw with Middlesbrough, it wasn’t enough as Hull City defeated Norwich City to leapfrog the Red Dragons.
It was a three-way tussle on the final day to join Southampton, Middlesbrough and Millwall in the fight for the final promotion spot after Ipswich Town’s final day win.
And in the end it wasn’t to be for Wrexham as they face another season in England’s second tier next term.
The match got off to a flying start as Boro struck first through Tommy Conway before Josh Windass levelled with brilliant free-kick from 25 yards.

The away side then blocked a number of efforts as the home side went for it in search of that goal – but it wasn’t to be.

In the end, they fell two points shy of that top six finish they craved.
