Film fans have heaped praise on a “fast-paced, intense” drama, with one branding it among the very “best films of the decade”.

Netflix, Amazon Prime, NOW, Paramount Plus and other streaming platforms offer an enormous selection of both commercially successful and critically lauded films. With so much choice, trying to figure out what’s worth watching can feel a bit overwhelming.

Many film enthusiasts look to social media for inspiration and recommendations, and Luke Ecclestone, who posts content under the name Eccy Reviews, has become a trusted source for those searching for their next must-see title.

He has built up hundreds of thousands of followers across his social media channels, where he regularly shares his views and opinions on a vast array of films and television shows.

In a recent TikTok video, he lavished praise on a Timothée Chalamet-led film from 2025.

 

Speaking directly to the camera, Luke opened with: “So I’m about to put you onto one of the best films of the decade and if you haven’t seen it, you are massively missing out.”

He went on to say: “The film that I am talking about is called Marty Supreme. Now, I absolutely love this film, I [give] it a five star; I think it is a perfect film.

“And Timothée Chalamet’s performance in this film is one of the best performances you will ever see.

“Now, if you love fast-paced action, intense drama, this film is 100% for you.”

Sports comedy-drama Marty Supreme, which has pulled in an impressive 93% score on popular review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes, follows Chalamet as the eponymous Marty Mauser, an aspiring table tennis player on a quest to become the world champion.

Directed by Josh Safdie, who co-wrote and directed the hit, nerve-racking thriller Uncut Gems, Mary Supreme offers viewers a similarly tense viewing experince. It’s set in the 1950s and charts Marty’s desperate hustle – and questionable decisions – to make his dream come true.

Luke said: “And you might not be a fan of sport, you might not be a fan of ping pong, and I am definitely one of those people.

“But this film is so intense. The performances are fantastic, from Timothée Chalamet to Gwyneth Paltrow, to every single person in this film – and it is also absolutely hilarious.

“Timothée Chalamet in this film is so brilliant. Now, I know a lot of people aren’t a massive fan and I feel like this film will totally change your mind.

“If you wanna go and check this film out, it’s just been added to Prime Video – and that’s exactly why I’m talking about it.
