ALEJANDRO GARNACHO has revealed the ‘hurt’ he felt over his bitter Manchester United exit last summer.
The Argentine winger, 21, joined Chelsea in August 2025 for a fee of £40million, but also spoke candidly about being aware that Stamford Bridge is yet to see the best of him.
Garnacho left Man Utd after a series of clashes with Ruben Amorim and supporters, the most notable of which was when he revealed his frustration at being brought on late in the Europa League final defeat to Spurs.
His brother Roberto then poured petrol on the fiery clash, claiming that Amorim had thrown Garnacho ‘under the bus’, before the forward posted a picture to social media wearing an Aston Villa shirt with Marcus Rashford’s name on the back, who was also exiled by Amorim.
Speaking to Premier League Productions, Garnacho was asked if he felt any regret over the way his move happened.
He said: “Maybe yes, because I loved that club.

“They gave me the confidence from the start, from Spain, to bring me to the academy, then they brought me to the first team, so it was like four or five years, and amazing love from everyone, from the fans, the stadium, everything was really good.
“It’s just sometimes you have to change for the good of your life or the next steps. I only have good memories of Man United.’
“I remember in the last six months I was just not playing like before at Manchester United. I started to be on the bench, it’s not a bad thing, I was only 20 years old, but in my mind, it was like I had to play every game.
“In my mind, maybe it is also on me, I started to do some bad things. But yes, it was just this moment in life, and sometimes you have to make decisions, and I am really proud to be here and still in the Premier League at a club like this.
“Everyone knows the team we have and the things we can do. I am proud to be here, but with United, I have nothing wrong to say about the club, no one in the club or my teammates. It’s just a moment in life that changes, and life continues. I have no regrets.”
At Chelsea, Garnacho is yet to fulfil the potential he showed when he shone in the 2022 FA Youth Cup final for Man Utd, being a rotation option on the left for Liam Rosenior, who has sometimes preferred Pedro Neto and even Enzo Fernandez on the wing.
The winger has already been linked with a potential exit from Stamford Bridge in the summer when Portuguese wonderkid Geovany Quenda arrives from Sporting.
But he is backing himself to improve in his second season, in the same way Marc Cucurella and Moises Caicedo did for the Blues.
Garnacho added: “Sometimes the first seasons are harder, but yeah, I will work really hard in the 7-8 games we have left, then the summer, try to train from the start, to prepare the next season, and to be ready to show my best.
“Because I know what I can do, and that is the most important thing”.
