Preston Davey killer ‘refusing to eat’ in jail and he’s having an ‘awful time of it’
Sicko Jamie Varley, 37, has begun a whole life term at HMP Wakefield – aka Monster Mansion – after he was convicted of sexually abusing and torturing little Preston Davey
Baby Preston Davey’s killer Jamie Varley is reportedly refusing to eat after being moved to Britain’s most feared jail – as his cushy perks behind bars are revealed. The 37-year-old was handed a whole-life order for the sickening abuse and murder of the tragic tot in a crime that appalled the nation.
Now he has been transferred to HMP Wakefield in West Yorkshire – the maximum-security Category A prison notorious for housing some of the UK’s most dangerous inmates, including child killers, terrorists and high-risk sex offenders.
An insider reportedly revealed Varley is living in fear after arriving at the jail this week – the same nick where paedo Ian Watkins was murdered.
A source said: “Varley is absolutely terrified. He is also confined to his cell and has barely eaten since he got to Wakefield on Monday.”
The inside further told the Sun: “It is the move he dreaded and pretty much the worst outcome for him. Varley will have an awful time at the prison, which is what he deserves.
“Officers are keeping close tabs on him but that won’t last forever as they don’t have enough staff. They have even offered him separate exercise – although he hasn’t been taking it.
“Instead he has been in his cell sobbing and saying he doesn’t want his life to carry on. Varley has already got a massive target on his back because of his case and as he is vulnerable.
“And he is well aware what happened to Ian Watkins and also Kyle Bevan at Wakefield so fears some sort of brutal attack.”
Varley’s fear of the move had already been flagged behind bars.
He was made to wear a yellow and green jumpsuit and had his movements restricted before he was finally shipped to Wakefield.
However despite his horrific crimes, Varley has reportedly remained an “enhanced” inmate – the top of three privilege levels. This meaning he can get £33 a week to spend on canteen treats, plus a 24-hour Freeview TV package.
Varley and his partner John McGowan-Fazakerley – who got 25 years – were jailed after a harrowing case at Preston Crown Court.
Jurors heard how the pair abused, sexually assaulted and tortured their adopted baby. Sentencing them, Judge Mr Justice Turner barnded them “sadistic” and told Varley: “You will never be eligible for parole.”
