House of the Dragon Season 3, Episode 7 sees the return of an important dragon, but fans of the Game of Thrones spinoff may be wondering how it’s possible. SPOILERS ahead for House of the Dragon Season 3, Episode 7. After Aegon’s insistence that Sunfyre was alive back in Episode 4, viewers have been wondering if the dragon would prove him right at some point during this outing. “The Dragon in the Winter” does exactly that, with Sunfyre resurfacing in glorious fashion.

Just as Aegon and Tyland Lannister are accepting their fates and taking their last stand against Rhaenyra’s army, Sunfyre emerges behind his rider. The dragon’s arrival causes Rhaenyra’s forces to cower and flee. It’s for good reason, too, since Sunfyre burns them as Aegon looks on and laughs. It’s one of Episode 7’s biggest moments, but it may leave some viewers scratching their heads.

After all, Sunfyre has been off the board since the Battle at Rook’s Rest in Season 2. Plus, the dragon looks dead when we see his body in Season 3. It’s less out there than the dragon actually being resurrected, and it gives Aegon’s earlier scene with him a deeper meaning.
