A new crime thriller perfect for Code of Silence fans is set to make its highly anticipated debut tonight.

Created by BAFTA-winning screenwriter Howard Overman, Hit Point follows detectives Leo and Bella, played by Nick Blood and Saffron Hocking, whose latest investigation takes them deep into the dangerous West London underworld.

Rather than being a straightforward police procedural, the new drama mixes crime, action, dark humour and romance.

The six-part series, which is U&Dave’s first original scripted drama, is tipped to be packed with tension as the broadcaster “promises edge-of-your-seat action, high-stakes drama, and a gripping storyline”.

Viewers will get to watch all the drama unfold tonight (August 13) as the gripping episode broadcasts at 9pm on U&Dave, U&W and U&Drama.

Though it’s a repeated episode, the instalment, entitled ‘I’ve been scammed 11 times’ will showcase a “high octane chase” alongside confrontations with fraudsters who are “plaguing lives”.

Episode one, titled “Double Yolker”, begins with an investigation that raises more questions than answers.

A lion, a fox and a panther – or perhaps a jaguar – are involved in an extraordinary robbery. There is a non-lethal bullet, millions of pounds missing and a series of contradictory clues that leave Leo and Bella struggling to work out exactly what has happened.

As the detectives begin putting the pieces together, the criminals are doing everything they can to stay ahead of the law.

But the situation becomes considerably more dangerous when Pascal, the ruthless uncle of Lucas, enters the picture. Played by Emily in Paris star William Abadie, Pascal wants his money back – and he isn’t prepared to wait around.

What initially looks like a relatively unusual robbery soon develops into something much bigger.

And while Leo and Bella attempt to unravel the mystery, their growing attraction adds another dangerous complication. UKTV’s head of drama commissioning, Helen Perry, promised Hit Point would be “a cop show like no other”.

She added: “With his singular voice, Howard has crafted a tense crime thriller that’s driven by a characterful will-they-won’t romance. It’s a distinctive genre mash-up, full of heart, humour and action-packed sequences.

“It’s the perfect first scripted drama commission for U&Dave and U, and a marker of our ambition for drama on the channel.”
