American Idol: Hannah Harper's Cover Of "Landslide" Dominates Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Night

Hannah Harper showed she can do Dolly like nobody’s business, now she showed she can rock Stevie, as the American Idol 2026 star had viewers mesmerized with a tearjerker rendition of Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide.” The powerful emotion of Hannah’s almost a cappella intro is something you don’t want to miss. Her singing that timeless intro over a lone, barely audible cello part is so incredibly moving. It just goes to show what makes Hannah so special – she can make magic out of the simplest things.

Hannah Harper Earns Spot in Top 9 with Standout 'Landslide' Performance on 'American Idol' - Country Now

Hannah singing “Landslide” with acoustic guitar in hand, with just a sparse musical backing, was just the perfect arrangement for her. The song has been covered endlessly, but she really managed to make it her own, and make it feel a whole lot more than just another cover. The Music Man has to say there’s a reason why Hannah’s performances are the most viewed American Idol uploads just about every week!

American Idol uploaded Hannah’s take on “Landslide” on April 14, 2026, where it hit 235,000 views in two weeks. The cover hit the spot for viewers, who added comments such as “This woman is an instant country star… she could leave the competition right now, she don’t need it.” and “This was my favorite performance of any contestant the whole season. I knew Hannah would be amazing on this song, but she exceeded all expectations. Just mesmerizing from start to finish. I hung on every word she was singing.”

Hannah really knows her way around the greatest hits of the legendary American female singer-songwriters. The 25-year-old singer dropped another superb performance with her take on Dolly Parton’s “Jolene.” She delivered this cover at The Acoustic Shoppe with a four-piece band backing her up, and boy, she was just made to sing this kind of material. What The Music Man really loves about Hannah is that she can get to the heart of a song while also adding her own flavour, as she shows here.

Fleetwood Mac released “Landslide” as a deep cut from the band’s self-titled tenth studio album. Yes, that’s right, one of Fleetwood Mac’s signature songs was not even released as a single at first, despite the band issuing four singles from the album. Fleetwood Mac, or perhaps their label, belatedly realized the potential “Landslide” had, and issued it as a single 23 years later. The song was released as a single from the band’s 1997 live reunion album, The Dance.
