Lowe’s father, Charles Lowe, shared a touching tribute to his granddaughter Fiona on Wednesday sharing a sweet photo of her swimming in a pool
Charles is also father to Chad’s older brother and fellow actor Rob Lowe, seen together at the 2002 Emmy Awards in Los Angeles
Fiona remembered by her family and community
Fiona’s death has also deeply affected the school community around her.
A source described the 13-year-old to PEOPLE as sweet, quiet and kind, with dance being her biggest passion. She was also remembered as having a highly artistic personality and for treating other students with kindness.
Parents at Fiona’s school were informed that a student had died and were told that counselors were available to provide emotional support to students and staff who needed it.
The Lowe family has remained closely involved with the school community, according to PEOPLE.
Lowe, who has appeared on TV shows such as ER, 24, Melrose Place and Now And Again, reflected on being a ‘girl dad’ on the Still Here Hollywood podcast in August 2024
‘Having daughters is such an incredible privilege,’ he shared on the podcast. ‘And so I look at the world, really, from their perspective’
Grandfather shares emotional tribute
Fiona’s grandfather, Charles Lowe, also paid tribute to his granddaughter following the news.
On Wednesday, he shared a photograph of Fiona smiling while swimming in a pool and wrote a brief message remembering her.
Charles is the father of Chad Lowe and actor Rob Lowe.
The wider Lowe family has rallied around Chad and Kim following Fiona’s death. PEOPLE reported that Rob Lowe and other relatives and friends have been supporting the couple as they cope with the loss.
Chad Lowe had often shared his pride in being a father
Before Fiona’s death, Chad frequently shared photographs and memories of his daughters on social media.
In November 2025, he celebrated Fiona becoming a teenager, posting a photograph of her wearing cowboy boots and encouraging her to “keep dancing through life.”
The actor also shared a photograph of all three daughters in February 2025 after they returned to see the remains of the family home following the devastating Pacific Palisades wildfire.
Chad wrote at the time that he was proud of how his daughters had handled the experience and described being their father as his “life’s greatest joy and privilege.”
The family had been forced to cope with the loss of their home during the fires earlier that year, adding another difficult chapter to an already challenging period for the family.
Chad Lowe once spoke about the privilege of raising daughters
In a 2024 appearance on the Still Here Hollywood podcast, Chad spoke about how becoming a father to three daughters had changed the way he viewed the world.
“Having daughters is such an incredible privilege,” he said, explaining that raising girls had given him a more personal perspective on issues affecting women and girls.
He also spoke about seeing the world through the eyes of his daughters and the responsibility he felt as their father.
Lowe had previously shared family moments with his daughters, including taking all three to a Taylor Swift concert in 2023.
A family asking for privacy
Fiona’s death has left the Lowe family, her friends and her school community grieving the loss of a 13-year-old remembered for her creativity, kindness and love of dance.
For now, her parents have asked for privacy and prayers as they come to terms with the loss of their daughter.
The family has also used the moment to encourage people struggling with mental health to seek help rather than facing those difficulties alone. In the United States, the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is available by calling or texting 988.
