Simon Cowell’s tough shell was cracked by two quiet guys from Columbus known as Bird and Byron, who appeared on the June 23 episode of NBC’s “America’s Got Talent.”

The duo performed an original song, “I’ll Always Be There,” after which Cowell praised singer Blake Bergere’s voice (“Sensational!”) as well as the onstage chemistry between him and musical partner Nick Lorenz.

When all was said and done, the pair had received four “yes” votes.

What happens next?

After initial auditions, the judges review all acts that received three or more “yes” votes to decide who will move on to the televised stages.

This season, acts not chosen to advance but who earned three or more “yes” votes can get another shot at a televised spot via the new judges’ callback round.

“America’s Got Talent” airs on NBC at 8 p.m. Tuesdays, and is available to stream on Peacock on Wednesdays.
