“You knew it was coming — just not like this.” The mastermind behind Tell Me Lies is finally unpacking the bombshell reveal of Bree’s mystery caller — and it’s darker, messier and far more intentional than fans imagined. For weeks, the anonymous voice haunting Bree fueled theories across social media. Was it revenge? Regret? A ghost from her past ready to expose everything? Now, with the curtain pulled back, the show’s boss explains the decision wasn’t about shock value — it was about consequence. According to Meaghan Oppenheimer, the reveal was designed to reframe Bree’s entire emotional arc. Every glance, every secret, every fragile attempt at moving on suddenly carries new weight. The call wasn’t random. It was inevitable. Because in this universe, nobody outruns their choices. The identity of that voice doesn’t just answer a question — it detonates the illusion of safety Bree thought she had rebuilt. The lies were always circling back. And now, they’ve found her.

It’s the question every Tell Me Lies fan has been wondering since Season 2: Who called Bree (Cat Missal) the day before her wedding? “I have a chance to be happy, OK? Like, genuinely happy. This is my chance to have a family. To live a life I don’t feel like a f**king visitor in. So, please, just leave me alone. I want to feel like a good person again,” Bree told her mystery caller.

The January 20 episode of Tell Me Lies Season 3 confirmed the identity of the person calling Bree. The big reveal happened at the end of Episode 4, thanks to Stephen DeMarco (Jackson White).

Drumroll, please… Bree’s mystery caller is Wrigley (Spencer House)! While Wrigley and Bree dance with Pippa (Sonia Mena) and Evan (Branden Cook) on the dance floor, they can’t help but steal glances at each other. The yearning is out in the open for everyone to see, including Stephen, who notices and then takes a peek at Wrigley’s phone. He looks at Wrigley’s recent call logs and discovers countless calls and FaceTime videos to Bree.

Showrunner and executive producer Meaghan Oppenheimer spoke with Swooon about finally identifying Bree’s mystery caller. While we still don’t know the full context of the feelings between Wrigley and Bree, something has happened. Wrigley even confirms he’s in love with Bree when he says that he’s “just pretending” that Pippa is the one he’s still in love with.

“It’s really hard to give up something stable for something that is new and risky and unstable, you know what I mean? And she’s been with Evan a long time,” Oppenheimer said of Bree’s mindset.

Now that Bree and Evan are married, it’s unclear where Bree and Wrigley go from here, but we’re waiting with bated breath for more details. Will Wrigley just have to suffer losing the woman he loves to his best friend? What Wrigley and Bree have to worry about is Stephen using the information he’s gathered against them. The night is far from over, that’s for sure.

“He’s gonna weaponize it. He’s gonna hold on to it. He keeps secrets. He feeds off secrets, and he’s going to unleash it in a bloody manner,” White tells Swooon.
