The way King Charles is bending over backwards for his ungrateful son Prince Harry could earn him a gold medal at this summer’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Despite the Duke of Sussex’s less than flattering descriptions of him in Harry’s bestselling cash-cow autobiography ‘Spare’, King Charles has gone above and beyond for his wayward boy.
When Harry, Meghan, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet looked set to head to the UK earlier this month to mark the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham, Charles offered the Sussexes accommodation at Buckingham Palace. In the end it is reported the Sussexes’ confirmation came too late, as they pondered flying over due to being denied taxpayer-funded police protection, and the offer had to be rescinded.

King Charles and Queen Camilla did end up meeting Harry and his family privately, away from the cameras, at Highgrove – but even that is a big-hearted gesture considering Harry’s antics since 2020’s Megxit.
Now it is being claimed King Charles is offering Harry yet another olive branch by offering him a room at Buckingham Palace for his next UK visit, set to take place in September.
The 41-year-old is set to return to Blighty from California for engagements that include an appearance at the annual WellChild Awards – and sources claim he will accept the king’s offer with plenty of notice this time.
It has previously been said that Harry must give the Royal Household 28 days’ notice of his arrival in the UK. It remains unknown if Meghan and their children will join him for this September’s visit.
But some might say being offered a luxury palace pad, considering he’s not a working royal, is a huge gesture – especially after Harry’s relentless money-making digs on TV and in print at both the king and ‘the institution’ of the monarchy.
In Spare, Harry claimed that when he was born his “Pa” praised Diana for giving him an heir and a spare; then when his mother died Harry claimed Charles woke him to break the news but did not hug him.

Harry’s also suggested his father prioritised media coverage over his own wellbeing.
What Harry had to say about King Charles’s wife, Queen Camilla is far, far worse – even branding her a “wicked stepmother”.
He also accused Camilla of sacrificing him “on her personal PR altar” by allegedly rehabilitating her own image through briefings against him.
Then, of course, there are all the nasty claims he makes about his brother William and sister-in-law Catherine in Spare, such as accusing them of being complicit in his decision to wear a Nazi outfit at a fancy dress party.
Harry should thank his lucky stars any of the Royal Family agree to be in the same room as him – after all, it will all probably end up as a new chapter in his next tell-all book.
