Father and Two Young Children Found Dead at Pennsylvania Parking Garage as Police Investigate Suspected Murder-Suicide

A Pennsylvania community has been left devastated after a father and his two young children were found dead outside a parking garage, with police investigating the tragedy as an apparent murder-suicide.
Patrick Lynch, 42, and his children, eight-year-old James and six-year-old Caroline, were discovered near the base of a parking structure in Mt. Lebanon, an affluent suburb approximately five miles south of downtown Pittsburgh.
Emergency responders were called to the scene at approximately 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3, following reports of three people who had apparently fallen from the structure.
Despite efforts to save their lives, all three were pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities believe the incident was deliberate rather than accidental.
Police Investigate Circumstances Surrounding Three Deaths

According to preliminary findings reported by local authorities, investigators believe Lynch caused his two children’s fatal falls before taking his own life.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that all three suffered injuries consistent with an apparent fall.
County police subsequently announced that the initial evidence pointed towards a murder-suicide.
However, investigators have not publicly established what may have led to the incident.
The precise circumstances surrounding the deaths remain under investigation.
Police secured the parking garage and surrounding area as officers began examining the scene.
A black vehicle was photographed behind police tape near the structure.
Authorities have not confirmed the height from which the three family members fell.
Police Chief Delivers Emotional Statement

Mt. Lebanon Police Chief Jason Haberman appeared visibly affected as he addressed reporters following the discovery.
He confirmed that investigators were not treating the incident as an accident.
Haberman also warned that the tragedy would have a profound impact on the close-knit community.
“There will be a significant amount of trauma associated with this event for the community,” he said.
The police chief emphasised that the loss would extend far beyond those who knew the family personally.
“Everybody in the Mt. Lebanon community will know somebody involved in this incident,” he added.
Haberman offered condolences to everyone affected as authorities continued their investigation.
Two Elementary Schools Close Following Tragedy
The deaths prompted an immediate response from the Mt. Lebanon School District.
Officials announced that two elementary schools would remain closed on Wednesday, November 4.
Students attending other schools within the district were permitted to stay home, with their absences excused.
The district also arranged for school counsellors to be available to support children, families and staff affected by the news.
The measures reflected the significant emotional impact of the incident on a community where many residents have close connections through local schools.
Authorities have not publicly detailed the children’s school arrangements beyond the district’s response.
Community Awaits Answers as Investigation Continues
The discovery has raised difficult questions about what happened before the three deaths.
Police have not announced a motive, and no further explanation of the family’s circumstances has been publicly confirmed.
Investigators are continuing to examine the evidence surrounding the incident.
The tragedy has left Mt. Lebanon confronting the loss of two young children and their father, while schools and community members begin responding to the aftermath.
For now, officials are urging compassion for those affected as the investigation proceeds.
Patrick Lynch, James Lynch and Caroline Lynch were all pronounced dead at the scene. Police say the preliminary evidence indicates a murder-suicide, although the circumstances that led to the tragedy remain under investigation.
