Michael Desronvil, the lone juror whose vote prevented a unanimous verdict in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial, has shared previously unseen photographs of himself holding his newborn daughter as public attention around him continues to intensify.
The 48-year-old juror was the sole holdout after his 11 fellow jurors concluded that Clancy should be found not guilty by reason of insanity. His refusal to join them ultimately resulted in a hung jury and mistrial.
Now, weeks after that dramatic conclusion, Desronvil is back in the spotlight for a very different reason.
New Photos Show Desronvil With His Baby Daughter
Photographs provided by Desronvil’s attorney show him smiling while holding his infant daughter. One image was taken on the day she was born.
Their release comes as an online fundraiser established for Desronvil climbed above $350,000 on Sunday afternoon.
Donations surged after he publicly addressed his controversial decision, saying Friday that he “didn’t have any doubts” about his view of Clancy’s guilt.
The photos offer a personal glimpse of a man who became one of the most scrutinized figures in the case after seven days of jury deliberations ended without a unanimous verdict.
Attorney Says Juror Has Faced Threats and Harassment
Desronvil’s holdout vote launched the case into a mistrial.
Reaction to Desronvil’s decision has been sharply divided, with both support and criticism directed toward him.
His attorney, Edward Paltzik, has alleged that the juror has received death threats and been subjected to doxxing and harassment. Paltzik said Desronvil was forced to leave his home and stay at an undisclosed secure location in rural New England.
The organizer of the fundraiser said donations would be used toward security expenses, legal costs and income lost from work.
Desronvil has also reportedly said that he believes some of the hostility directed toward him is connected to his being a Black Republican, according to an off-camera interview cited in the report.
One Vote Changed the Course of the Clancy Trial
Clancy, 36, admitted killing her three children — Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and 8-month-old Callan — but the central dispute at trial concerned her criminal responsibility at the time.
Her defense argued that she was experiencing severe postpartum psychosis and should therefore be found not guilty by reason of insanity.
Prosecutors presented a sharply different interpretation, arguing that Clancy acted deliberately and should be held criminally responsible.
When deliberations ended, 11 jurors sided with the insanity defense. Desronvil did not.
That single disagreement prevented the jury from reaching a unanimous verdict and resulted in a mistrial — transforming an otherwise anonymous juror into the focus of intense public attention.
Now, as donations to support him continue to rise, the newly released photographs reveal another side of Desronvil’s life: away from the courtroom controversy, he is also a new father holding his infant daughter while dealing with the fallout from the decision that changed the course of one of the country’s most closely watched trials.
