THE Chase fans tonight branded one player a “thief” after they snapped up an outrougeous low offer to make it back to their team.
Host Bradley Walsh was left speechless when contestant Jo picked the extremely low offer and viewers couldn’t believe it either.
But she was advised to go for the minus offer by Chaser Jenny Ryan, who said in Thursday’s episode that it made more sense to have three people to answer questions in the final chase.
Jenny drove a hard bargain after realising Jo wasn’t a particularly strong player and the team had already lost a person.
One person said on Twitter: “I smell a low offer taking rat”
She tempted Jo with a minus £11,000 offer, and the player readily snapped it up.
Jenny told Jo, who made it home: “That did a lot to settle your nerves, and gave you so much room to just put those guesses in.
“And not be scared by how fast I was pushing the buttons.
“So, you’ve done your job. Doesn’t matter how you’ve done it. You’re back in the final.”
But the team had an impressive 29 grand in the prize pot before the £11,000 was wiped off.
“Hang your head in shame you thief,” another fan seethed.
One more said: “Love the lads ignoring her as she goes past cos she took 11k off the total”
A third scoffed: “What is going on with #TheChase lately? Someone taking -£11,000 from a total of £29,000 now. Complete s**thousery. I’d rather lose and take home nothing than share with people like that!”
Despite their fury, Jo did walk away with £6,000 of the £18,000 prize money.
Another person remarked: “Fair play to Jo tonight on The Chase. One correct answer and walks away with £6k in her back pocket. Must be the best return ever on the show.”
Another reasoned: “Love Jo on #TheChase. It’s a game at the end of the day and she played it safe for a huge reward. Not sure I would’ve been able to, but kudos to her.
