Couple 'jointly' planned to kill their 4 kids after dad started 'cutting people out of his life': Authorities

A Kansas man who allegedly murdered his four children and his wife before turning the gun on himself planned the murder-suicide with his wife, authorities said.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation said Ronald Williams Sr., 53, and Kelly George, 44, were both behind the planning of the mass murder of their four children — Kelly, 3; Ronald Jr., 7; Sarah, 5; and Carol, 9 — before all six family members were found dead in their Winfield, Kansas, home on Aug. 11. According to the Winfield Police Department, Williams called 911 at 8:50 a.m. that day saying that he “had killed his entire family and he was getting ready to kill himself.”
When police arrived at the home, they heard a single gunshot and waited before entering the home. They went inside and found Williams, George, and all four children dead.
Days after the grisly find, the KBI said evidence determined that both Williams and George “jointly shared culpability for premeditated plans to kill their children and then themselves.” The nature of the evidence was not made public, and the KBI said the investigation was ongoing.
The KBI did share that the couple was showing “erratic behavior” in the days leading up to the killings, including statements made to law enforcement and their neighbors. Authorities said the Taurus .38 Special revolver found at the scene, the suspected murder weapon, was purchased by Williams in February 2025.
According to reporting by local ABC affiliate KAKE, Williams’ and George’s “erratic” behavior went back about 18 months, when the couple’s neighbors started calling police with complaints about them. In October 2024, a woman walking her dog in Williams’ neighborhood told police that Williams allegedly pulled a gun on her. Williams reportedly told police he was trying to “protect himself from [the] dog.”
In October 2025, Williams allegedly pulled a gun on a FedEx driver who used Williams’ driveway to turn around.
Williams and George also made a number of reports themselves. KAKE reported that the couple made several allegations of mail tampering, conspiracies, plots against them, medical fraud, and more. According to documents obtained by KAKE, an officer wrote about the couple, “I believe they are either both suffering from mental health issues or are taking illegal narcotics due to their agitated state and delusions. Use caution when dealing with these two.”
Records obtained by KAKE included a request for a welfare check by Williams’ mother in April 2025. Police spoke to Williams when they conducted the check, and he reportedly told them he was “cutting people out of his life.”
KAKE obtained doorbell camera video taken by Williams’ and George’s next-door neighbor that captured Williams screaming profanities. That video was dated Aug. 7, four days before the killings.
The KBI and Winfield Police Department are both investigating the murder-suicide and have said there is no further threat to the public.
