Dominick Bianchi, the 35-year-old newlywed whose disappearance sparked a desperate search in upstate New York, has been found dead in a wooded area, police confirmed Sunday night.

Bianchi had been missing since Tuesday morning, when he was last seen at his home in East Greenbush, just south of Albany. His disappearance immediately alarmed his family because he apparently left without his cellphone, wallet or car.

Authorities have not yet announced a cause of death.

The East Greenbush Police Department confirmed the discovery after days of searching and appealed for privacy and support for Bianchi’s loved ones.

“The East Greenbush Police Department extends its deepest condolences to Dominick’s family, loved ones, and all those affected by this tragic loss,” Detective Sergeant Michael Guadagnino said.

“Our thoughts are with them as they navigate this incredibly difficult time.”

Police had previously asked residents in the area to search their properties and review surveillance footage for anything that might help investigators trace Bianchi’s movements.

Following the discovery, authorities thanked the community for assisting with the search.

His wife had pleaded for him to return

Bianchi had married his wife, Julianna Zyra, only months before his disappearance.

As the search intensified, Zyra made an emotional public plea for her husband to come home and revealed that he had recently been struggling with his mental health.

There was another urgent concern for his family: Bianchi had type 1 diabetes.

Relatives feared that he did not have his insulin with him when he disappeared, adding to the urgency surrounding efforts to locate him.

His family had spent days waiting for any sign that he was safe before police confirmed the devastating outcome.

Questions remain after his discovery

For investigators and Bianchi’s loved ones, significant questions remain unanswered.

Police have not publicly disclosed the circumstances surrounding the discovery of his body or what may have happened after he left home.

Most importantly, authorities had not announced a cause of death at the time of the report.

The confirmation brings the search for the missing newlywed to a tragic conclusion just months after his wedding — while leaving the circumstances surrounding his final days unresolved.
