The former Manchester United star endured a nightmare first match in front of the home fans after giving away possession under no pressure before moments later turning the ball into his own net. Cameras then caught Lionel Messi’s reaction from the bench as stunned supporters flooded social media, questioning what had just unfolded. 📌 How did a dream move become a debut to forget in just a matter of minutes?

CASEMIRO suffered a nightmare home debut for Inter Miami as he gifted possession and then scored an own goal moments later.

The former Manchester United midfielder, 34, only linked up with Lionel Messi’s side last week as a free agent after leaving Old Trafford.

His first appearance came just days after arriving as he played 90 minutes in a 1-0 win over Montreal.

But his home debut against Columbus Crew got off to a disastrous start just 33 minutes into the game.

Miami were 1-0 up thanks to Luis Suarez‘s strike when Casemiro inexplicably gave away the ball under no pressure.

A cross was then fizzed into the box, which the Brazilian then diverted into his own net.Casemiro looked totally dejected after his moment to forget – and his new team-mate Messi didn’t seem too happy either.

The camera cut to the Argentine scowling on the bench after Casemiro’s embarrassing gaffe.

Fans couldn’t believe Casemiro’s first home game had gone so badly as they debated the moment on X.

One said: “How’s Casemiro getting on over in MLS I hear you ask… Well he gave the ball away under no pressure inviting a counter-attack and then finished the counter-attack with an own goal. His face said it all.”

Another said: “Bro regretting his decision realising he should have stayed at Man United.”

A third added: “He ain’t him anymore. How can your first goal be an own goal?”

And a fourth wrote: “The Man United spirits haunt you wherever you go.”

Miami did go in front again thanks to Noah Allen’s goal on the stroke of half time.

Messi was then sent on as a substitute in his first game since returning from his World Cup heartache with Argentina.

But the 39-year-old was unable to guide his team to victory in his 37 minutes on the pitch as Brais Mendez struck in the 84th minute to snatch a draw.

It comes just days after Casemiro risked his relationship with ex-United and Real Madrid team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo by calling Messi “the god of football”.

The Brazilian said: “All players imagine playing with the best of all time. For me, without a doubt, I’m living a dream by playing with the best of all time.

“I want to enjoy it and help him keep winning because he is a winner. He is being joined by another player who wants to win and wants to compete.

“In the end, it’s always very close between winning and losing, but we want to compete. Of course, I’m here for him and to help him.

“He is one of the gods, if not the god of football. I want to enjoy being with him and keep winning with him.”
