‘The Voice’ Contestant Luke Cope Wins Two Chair Turns With Emotional Cover of Cam’s ‘Burning House’

North Carolina singer Luke Cope moved two coaches on The Voice with an emotional performance of Cam’s “Burning House,” earning late chair turns from Adam Levine and Queen Latifah during the Season 30 Blind Auditions. The father of three ultimately chose Queen Latifah as his coach, despite admitting he was torn between the two.
The audition aired Monday, October 5, 2026, as coaches Queen Latifah, Adam Levine, Kelly Clarkson and Riley Green continued building their teams. With each coach aiming to fill a 12-member roster, the competition was becoming increasingly intense as fewer places remained available.
Luke Cope’s Emotional Performance Catches Two Coaches’ Attention
At the start of the episode, Levine had five spots left on his team, while Latifah, Clarkson and Green each had four. All four coaches had already used their First-In buttons, adding further pressure to their remaining decisions.
Cope took the stage with “Burning House,” the emotionally charged song by country singer Cam. Rather than securing an immediate response, his performance kept the coaches waiting until the final moments.
Eventually, both Levine and Latifah turned their chairs, giving the North Carolina native a choice between two teams.
Riley Green later explained why he had decided not to turn. He said he had noticed some “tempo issues” at the beginning of Cope’s performance.
Adam Levine Praises the Singer’s Unique Qualities

Levine, however, was drawn to the emotion in Cope’s voice. The coach described the singer as “interesting,” explaining that the performance made him stop and pay attention to what he was feeling.
Although Levine acknowledged that Cope still had areas to work on, he was impressed by the strength the singer displayed toward the end of the song.
He also told Cope there was something “extremely unique and special” about him, making it clear that the audition had left a strong impression.
Luke Cope Chooses Queen Latifah
With both Levine and Latifah eager to bring him onto their teams, Cope faced a difficult decision. He admitted to feeling “conflicted” before finally making his choice.
In the end, Cope joined Team Queen Latifah, bringing his emotional vocal style to the coach’s growing roster.

His audition added another memorable moment to Season 30, showing how a performance can build slowly before earning a decisive response from the coaches.
