Kate Hudson channeled Marilyn Monroe with a modern twist for her latest outing. This week, the Song Sung Blue actress spoke on a panel at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, home of the Lakers, alongside the team’s owner, Jeanie Buss.
For the occasion, Hudson selected a white halter dress, evoking Monroe’s look in The Seven Year Itch. Hudson’s frock, however, included a lace bodice, as well as gathered fabric and fringe along the hemline.

The Almost Famous star accessorized with pearl earrings and a matching ring. Her middle-parted, dirty blonde locks were done in beachy curls, a decisively more casual style than her outfit would suggest. The hairdo was a callback to Monroe’s cropped platinum ringlets, though Hudson gave it her signature boho-chic twist with some added length.
Hudson portrays a fictionalized version of Buss on Netflix’s Running Point, which follows a reformed party girl who inherits ownership of her family’s basketball team. The show’s second season premieres next month.

The Oscar nominee switched up her signature hair part last month, pairing a millennial-coded style with a cocktail ring worth nearly $90,000 at an L.A. luncheon.
Hudson rocked a deep side part with a Lanvin look from the brand’s Pre-Fall 2026 collection. Her sleeveless red satin shift was styled with elbow-length leather gloves and a sleek belt.

Black-and-white slingbacks, diamond huggie earrings, and a David Webb cocktail ring topped off Hudson’s ensemble. The amber bauble, worth a staggering $87,000, is adorned with marquise-cut diamonds and features an 18kt gold and platinum setting.
The different hair parting methods has sparked a generational debate online. Some Zoomers have claimed that a side part screams millennial, whereas middle-parted hair is thought to be associated with Gen Z. These days, both styles are popular among stars of all generations.
