Meghan Markle’s “As Ever” Brand Faces a Crucial Test as Sussexes Prepare for Reported UK Return

Meghan Markle’s reported plans to spend more time in the UK could affect far more than her family life. As the Duchess of Sussex prepares for a possible new chapter in Britain, attention is turning to As Ever, the lifestyle brand that has become an important part of her post-royal identity.
The move could give Markle an opportunity to introduce the brand to a new market — but not everyone believes British consumers will be eager to embrace it.
Harsh Predictions for Meghan’s Brand

Celebrity chef and entrepreneur Jameson Stocks offered a particularly critical assessment of what Markle’s UK return could mean for her business.
Speaking to the Daily Express, Stocks claimed he would not be surprised if London department stores had already agreed to sell her products, while making a sharply negative comment about their perceived value.
He went on to question whether As Ever would find enough support among British shoppers, suggesting that Markle could face an uphill battle when attempting to establish the brand in the UK.
Stocks also predicted that Markle could reshape the business to give it a distinctly British direction.
“I have no doubt that she will pivot her brand and launch something in the UK,” he said. “The question is, are there enough mugs in the UK to buy it?”
His remarks reflected his broader argument that Markle’s connection to the Royal Family does not automatically guarantee commercial success.
Could Britain Become As Ever’s Next Market?

With Harry and Meghan reportedly preparing to spend more time in Britain, Stocks suggested that Markle could use the opportunity to reposition her lifestyle business.
As Ever has become closely associated with Markle’s post-royal career, with its range including fruit preserves, honey, teas and flower sprinkles.
A UK move could therefore provide the brand with access to a different audience and potentially create a new commercial direction.
But the reception among British consumers remains uncertain.

Stocks argued that the Sussexes’ return could also bring them closer to the Royal Family, although he warned that repairing those relationships would not happen overnight.
“When you’re backed into a corner with very few options left—having exhausted every possible avenue—you often find yourself turning back to your family,” he said.
He also suggested that financial considerations could play a role, arguing that a return to Britain might make sense if the couple faced significant financial obligations without a dependable income stream.
However, Stocks strongly rejected the idea of returning primarily for commercial reasons, saying that if business opportunities were the main motivation, he would find that “despicable.”
A New Chapter — Or A Major Gamble?
Stocks was also critical of Markle’s previous commercial opportunities, arguing that her celebrity status had not produced the level of success he believed she expected.
“Her celebrity status was clearly not as influential in America as she believed,” he claimed, before making further criticism of her public image.
Those remarks represent Stocks’ opinion, rather than an established fact about Markle’s business performance.
For Markle, however, the reported UK return could nevertheless become an important moment for As Ever.
After becoming one of the most visible elements of her post-royal identity, the lifestyle brand could now face a very different test: whether British consumers will embrace Meghan Markle’s products on home soil.
For now, the answer remains unknown — but with the Sussexes reportedly preparing for a new life chapter in Britain, As Ever’s next move could be one of the most closely watched parts of the transition.
