Britain’s Got Talent judges say ‘hands down the best we’ve ever had’ after ‘powerful’ performance

Opera singer Innocent Masuku left the judges stunned with his rendition of Caruso by Lucio Dalla

Britain’s Got Talent contestant Innocent Masuku left judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli stunned with his vocals during the latest episode of the ITV competition. The star performed a rendition of Caruso by Lucio Dalla, leaving the panel speechless.

Just seconds into his performance, the 33-year-old had Bruno on his feet, as presenter Ant McPartlin said to co-host Declan Donnelly backstage: “That’s special isn’t it.”

The camera also panned to audience members who were just as blown away, with one pointing out that his performance had given her goosebumps. Following his act, Innocent received a standing ovation from both the audience and the panel.

Alesha told him: “I’m kind of lost for words, I found that overwhelming actually, by the end of that song I felt like I was just hit in the chest with this force, it felt divine almost. This is your calling,” as Bruno added: “I couldn’t agree more, it was very, very special. You’re special.”

Amanda then told Innocent: “Simon says it every year, we’ve got to keep raising the bar, when we’re looking for talent we can’t look back and have to have people who go beyond our expectations, and that’s exactly what you did today.”

She then added: “Hands down in the 17 years that we’ve been doing Britain’s Got Talent, you are by far the best opera singer we have ever had.”

“That was wonderful, I mean seriously wonderful,” Simon said, before adding: “So heartfelt, and so powerful, you deserve this break, you really, really do.” The judges, of course, all voted to put Innocent through to the next round.
