Speculation surrounding Meghan Markle and a possible role in The Gentlemen season 3 has taken another turn after one of the show’s returning stars offered a notably blunt response to the casting rumors.

Reports recently suggested that Markle, who starred in Suits, was in talks to revive her acting career with a role in the popular Netflix series. While lead actors Theo James and Kaya Scodelario have previously offered cautious and somewhat vague responses to the speculation, Ray Winstone has now shared his own reaction.

And it was considerably more direct.

Winstone, who plays Bobby Glass in The Gentlemen, was recently appearing on The Romesh Ranganathan Show when the subject of Markle came up.

Asked about the Duchess of Sussex, the veteran actor initially responded, “Who?” before adding, “Oh, shut up.”

When Ranganathan mentioned reports that Markle could potentially appear in season 3, Winstone replied, “What, in The Gentlemen? Oh, shut up. I don’t think so.”

He later clarified his position to The Mirror, saying, “I’ve never met her.”

His comments come as speculation continues over whether Markle could become part of the cast for the show’s upcoming third season.

Season 2 of The Gentlemen was recently released on Netflix, while a third season has already been announced.

James, Scodelario and Winstone are all set to return, but Markle’s possible involvement remains surrounded by uncertainty.

The former Vanity Fair editor-in-chief Tina Brown previously claimed that an offer for Markle had been withdrawn following what she described as “backlash in the UK.” However, the reports about her potential casting have continued to circulate.

Earlier this month, James addressed the rumors without confirming or denying that Markle could appear.

“I think that is just a rumour; I don’t even know the practicalities of how one would make that happen,” he said.

However, he stopped short of completely dismissing the possibility, later adding that “it’s still very much up in the air.”

Scodelario has also been asked about the speculation. She explained that she had no say in the casting decision, saying, “I, unfortunately, have no decision-making abilities. I wish I did.”

She did, however, point to the show’s history of featuring high-profile guest actors.

“We have wonderful guest actors in season 2, but yeah, the more the merrier. Everyone come have a go. You guys, come have a go,” Scodelario said.

Meghan’s acting comeback continues

The ongoing speculation comes as Markle has already taken steps toward returning to acting.

The Duchess is set to make a cameo in the upcoming film Close Personal Friends, which features Brie Larson, Lilly Collins, Jack Quaid and Henry Golding.

Markle is reportedly playing a version of herself in the film.

Whether she will also appear in The Gentlemen season 3 remains unclear. With the show’s returning cast members offering different reactions to the rumors, speculation over Markle’s possible involvement continues.
