Meghan Markle Reportedly Warned by Security Team After Private Phone Number Was Exposed
Meghan Markle has reportedly been given a stern warning by her security team after her personal phone number was exposed through a screenshot from a school parents’ WhatsApp group.
The 45-year-old Duchess of Sussex had joined the private parents’ chat shortly before her children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, began attending a British school.
What initially appeared to be a routine introduction among parents later became a security concern after part of the conversation was screenshotted and circulated online.
Private Number Leak Raises Security Concerns
According to a source familiar with the situation, Meghan’s security team took the incident seriously and held direct discussions with her about what had happened.
“Meghan’s security team took it extremely seriously and there were some very direct conversations about what had happened,” the source claimed.
The source said Meghan was warned about sharing personal contact information in situations where she could not control who might take a screenshot or where the information could eventually be shared.
“The message was very clear – don’t do anything like this again,” the source added.
The incident reportedly happened after Meghan received a friendly welcome from other parents in the group.
One parent wrote, “Welcome to Meghan who has Archie joining tomo.”
Another added, “Welcome!!”
Meghan then replied: “Hi moms! Thanks for the warm welcome (heart emoji.) So happy to be a part of this community. xx.”
The exchange was subsequently captured in a screenshot and circulated multiple times, reportedly resulting in her private number being exposed.
WhatsApp Incident Highlights Privacy Fears
A second source said Meghan had simply wanted to participate in the group like any other parent and introduce herself to the wider school community.
“Meghan understandably wanted to participate like any other parent and introduce herself to the group,” the source claimed.
However, the source added that ordinary privacy expectations can become more complicated when dealing with someone whose personal information could attract significant attention once it leaves a private group.
The reported incident comes shortly after Meghan and Prince Harry, 42, faced another school-related security issue involving their children.
Archie and Lilibet Move to Another School
Archie and Lilibet were reportedly removed from their original British school after just two days following discussions between the Sussexes and their private security team about the children’s commute.
Heavy rush-hour traffic and parked vehicles had reportedly created difficulties for the security convoy.
Among the concerns were how long the children might remain stationary in traffic and whether the family’s vehicle could stay together with the accompanying security car.
The children have since started attending another school.
The latest reported phone-number incident has therefore added another layer to the security and privacy concerns surrounding the Sussexes’ return to Britain and their children’s new school arrangements.
