A brutal sequence of events is sending shockwaves through all of New York after a 23-year-old mother and her 8-month-old infant suddenly plunged from a terrifying height at a Bronx apartment building

Angel Carrasco Arrested After Alleged Bronx Balcony Attack That Killed Mother and Critically Injured Baby

Angel Carrasco, the 31-year-old man accused of pushing his estranged girlfriend and their 8-month-old daughter from a 15th-floor Bronx apartment balcony, has been taken into custody by the United States Marshals Service.

Carrasco was arrested Wednesday evening, a day after the alleged attack that killed 23-year-old Nathaly Ramirez and left their infant daughter, Angel Novalty Carrasco-Ramirez, critically injured.

Law enforcement sources told The Post that Carrasco allegedly shoved Ramirez from the balcony while she was holding their baby during the early hours of Tuesday.

According to the NYPD, officers found the mother and child on the ground with injuries consistent with a fall from an elevated position.

Mother Dies, Baby Remains in Critical Condition

Ramirez and her daughter were rushed to Jacobi Hospital following the fall.

Ramirez was pronounced dead at the hospital, while her 8-month-old daughter remained in critical condition, police said.

US Marshal Ricky J. Patel described the case as a devastating tragedy and said investigators were committed to bringing Carrasco into custody.

“This horrific tragedy weighs heavily on every team member who worked this case,” Patel said in a statement to The Post.

Carrasco allegedly fled the scene Tuesday and remained at large until his arrest Wednesday evening.

Sources said he had brought a bouquet of flowers to the apartment, apparently hoping to repair his troubled relationship with Ramirez before the confrontation allegedly turned deadly.

Wanted Poster Showed Carrasco Holding a Knife

Earlier Wednesday, the NYPD released a wanted poster featuring a photograph of Carrasco appearing to play with a large kitchen knife inside what appeared to be an elevator.

Authorities had been searching for him since the alleged attack.

Patel said investigators believed the arrest was important not only for the case but also for the victim and her child.

“We owed it to the brave mother who gave her life to save her child from a vicious individual,” Patel said.

“While nothing can undo this terrible loss, taking this suspect off the street ensures he will answer for his alleged heinous actions.”

Carrasco Had Previous Domestic Violence Cases

Carrasco’s arrest came against the backdrop of previous domestic violence-related incidents involving Ramirez.

Sources said he had been arrested twice earlier in 2026 following separate domestic disputes.

On Jan. 5, Carrasco was allegedly arrested after slapping Ramirez and leaving her bruised following an argument about him communicating with an ex-girlfriend.

Just three days later, he was arrested again in another dispute involving Ramirez. According to sources, he was charged with burglary after allegedly breaking into her apartment and waiting for her.

That case was later sealed, and further details were not immediately available.

Sources also accused Carrasco of sending threatening text messages to an ex-girlfriend. His record reportedly includes at least two other arrests from 2016 involving separate cases of false impersonation and marijuana possession.

Witness Recalls Hearing a Man Shout “Jump!”

The alleged attack unfolded at the 18-story apartment building at 2550 Olinville Ave. in the Bronx.

After the incident, haunting images from outside the building showed a baby’s diaper and blanket lying on the ground near the crime scene.

Building tenant Robin Mendzies recalled hearing a disturbing exchange before the fall.

“Someone shouting, ‘Jump!’ It was a male voice,” Mendzies said.

She then heard a loud impact followed by a woman crying out, “No please, no!”

“It sounded like she was begging for an inevitable thing not to happen,” Mendzies recalled.

A memorial of candles and flowers was later placed outside the building alongside a photograph of Ramirez and a poster marking October as Domestic Violence Month.

Friends Remember Ramirez as a Devoted Mother

For those who knew Ramirez, the tragedy has been especially painful.

High school friend Dominique Rosado said Ramirez was protecting her daughter during the final moments of her life.

“In the last moment of her life, she was protecting her daughter,” Rosado said.

“That’s what it means to be a mother. She was a good mother,” she added.

Carrasco is now in custody following the United States Marshals Service operation.
