Panicked 911 Calls Capture Moments After University of Georgia Student Plunged From 8th-Floor Window

Newly released 911 calls have revealed the frantic moments after a 21-year-old University of Georgia student accidentally plunged from an eighth-floor apartment window while dancing — and survived.
Kristin Sargent, a senior at the university, was rushed to intensive care with several broken bones following the terrifying fall at the Rambler Athens apartment complex in Athens, Georgia, shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Investigators said Sargent had been dancing on a couch when she fell through a window and landed near the building’s pool area.
Friend makes desperate 911 call

One of the most disturbing details to emerge from the incident came from a friend who was inside the apartment.
“We were dancing, and she just fell out of the window,” the worried friend told a 911 dispatcher in a call obtained by the New York Post.
“She’s not moving.”
The caller acknowledged that the group had been drinking but insisted they had not been heavily intoxicated.
“It was nothing extreme at all, we were all fully conscious,” she told the dispatcher.
Resident witnessed the fall from another floor
Another resident of the Rambler Athens building said in a separate 911 call that he had seen the fall from his 5th-floor room.
A second emergency call came from another resident of the apartment complex who said he witnessed Sargent’s fall from his fifth-floor room.
“I just saw someone fall out of, like, the eighth-floor window and land on the grass by the pool,” he told the dispatcher.
From his vantage point, the witness initially believed the person appeared unconscious.
The calls capture the confusion and fear immediately after the fall, before those at the scene knew whether Sargent would survive.
Sargent survives extraordinary fall
Despite plunging from the eighth floor, Sargent survived and was transported to intensive care.
She suffered several broken bones and remained hospitalized as she recovered from her injuries.
According to investigators cited in the original report, the evidence indicated the incident was an accidental fall while Sargent was dancing on a couch near the window.
The newly released calls now provide a glimpse into the first moments after the accident — when friends and witnesses could only wait for emergency responders, uncertain whether the 21-year-old had survived.
