King Charles III is facing renewed calls to take decisive action and strip Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and their children of their royal styles and titles. Despite stepping back from institutional duties in 2020 and agreeing to refrain from using their HRH designations for commercial endeavors, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex—along with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet—continue to formally retain their princely status, remaining a continuous point of friction amid their recent UK relocation.

Advocating for a firmer stance, Daily Mail royal commentator Richard Eden argued that the British monarch should draw inspiration from European continental dynasties, specifically highlighting Denmark’s royal restructuring.

In late 2022, Denmark’s former monarch, Queen Margrethe II, stripped the prince and princess titles from the four children of her younger son, Prince Joachim, styling them as counts and countesses to grant them greater personal autonomy away from formal institutional constraints.

Drawing a sharp comparison between the two royal houses, Eden observed: “Margrethe’s decisive action is in stark contrast to the absence of any moves by King Charles against his younger son. Not only have Harry and Meghan been allowed to keep their titles, but their children remain Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. It’s time for the King to follow the example of his Danish counterpart and take action which will undoubtedly upset his younger son but will benefit the monarchy and the country.”
