Florida Mother Denies Allegations as Friends Rally Behind Her After Arrest
A Florida mother accused of having sexual contact with the family dog is denying the allegations, while friends have launched a fundraiser to help her cover legal expenses and support her two children.
Malia Nummerdor, 38, of Punta Gorda, was arrested on September 15 after her estranged husband, Erik Nummerdor, reported the allegations to police and publicly discussed them on Facebook. According to the arrest report, Erik told investigators that he had video evidence of the alleged incident.
Malia maintains that the accusations are untrue. Her friends say she was targeted by an estranged husband they describe as vengeful, although that claim has not been established as fact.
Friends launch fundraiser

The fundraiser, launched Monday, says Malia and her two sons have had their lives “turned upside down” by the dispute and allegations.
According to the appeal, Malia has been displaced from her home and is facing substantial legal expenses. It also says she grew up as an only child and has no surviving parents, leaving her to rely heavily on close friends during the situation.
The fundraiser stresses that it is not intended to determine whether the allegations are true.
“Malia is facing serious allegations,” the appeal states, arguing that she should have access to experienced legal representation and that her two young sons deserve privacy, stability and as much normalcy as possible while the adults involved deal with the case.
However, the fundraiser had attracted little financial support at the time of the report, with only two donations totaling less than $20 during its first day.

According to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office arrest report, Erik told police that he had installed two security cameras inside the family home after becoming concerned about money allegedly being taken from a coin jar.
Erik said everyone in the home knew about the cameras.
While reviewing footage from a camera in a bedroom, he allegedly saw Malia engaging in sexual activity with the family’s dog, Ranger, according to police.
Erik provided investigators with the recording and gave them access to the laptop where the footage was stored. Police said the material provided an “independent source of corroboration” beyond Erik’s account.
The allegation resulted in Malia being charged with sexual contact with an animal.

Police interviewed Malia on September 15. Investigators said she appeared impaired during the interview and acknowledged being under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
When questioned about the dog’s proximity to her genital area, Malia denied engaging in sexual conduct. According to the arrest report, she said she had simply been lying with and petting her elderly dog near its bed.
Police then questioned her about her physical position and the dog’s placement between her legs. Investigators said they considered her explanation inconsistent and noted that she pointed out there was another dog in the room.
Malia has continued to deny the allegations made by her husband.
Arrest and release
Malia was arrested on September 15 and booked into the Charlotte County Jail. Her booking photograph shows her smiling at the camera.
She has since been released.
Malia’s social media accounts contain photographs of her with Erik, whom she married in 2023, as well as images of their two sons and the family’s dogs.
Erik had not immediately responded to requests for comment.
The case remains based on allegations and evidence being considered through the legal process. While police say the footage provided corroboration of Erik’s account, Malia has denied the accusation and maintains that she was framed by her estranged husband.
