Meghan Markle is preparing to reconnect with charities in Britain as she and Prince Harry settle into their new life in the UK — but the couple are deliberately keeping out of the spotlight while they focus on their children.

The Duchess of Sussex, 45, is expected to gradually resume her involvement with British charitable causes, with reports suggesting that her work could eventually include public appearances and media coverage. For now, however, she is understood to be taking a quieter approach as the family adjusts to life back in Britain.

Harry and Meghan are also understood to be working on a new arrangement for media coverage of their engagements and public activities. The couple withdrew from the Royal Rota system in 2020, but their approach to media access has since become more flexible.

The Sussexes are keeping a low profile

For the moment, family life is taking priority.

Friends say Harry and Meghan are trying to avoid being photographed while they get their new home organised and prepare Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five, for the start of the school year.

“They are still unpacking at home and getting over the jet lag,” one source said.

The couple have also asked for their children’s privacy to be respected as they settle into their new surroundings.

The source added that even ordinary preparations for school have been carried out discreetly, with the family trying to buy uniforms and school supplies without attracting attention.

“They wanted to come back, they’re excited about being back and everything that’s to come,” the source said.

Another person close to Meghan said she wants to reconnect with people she already knows in Britain while also exploring opportunities to support causes she has not previously worked with.

Smart Works could be part of Meghan’s return

Among the charities expected to feature in Meghan’s renewed UK activities is Smart Works, which helps unemployed and vulnerable women prepare to return to work.

The organisation provides women with clothing for interviews, interview training and networking opportunities.

Meghan first became involved with Smart Works after marrying Harry in 2018. It was also the only one of the charities she supported as a working royal that she continued to work with after stepping back from royal duties.

In 2019, she collaborated with fashion brands including Jigsaw and John Lewis on a capsule collection for Smart Works.

At the time, Meghan spoke about the importance of women supporting and encouraging one another as they pursue their careers.

Her connection with Smart Works has remained significant. While she did not undertake public engagements with the charity while living in the United States, she issued a statement marking its tenth anniversary in 2023 and praised its work.

Now that she is back in Britain, sources say Meghan is considering how she can become involved with the organisation again in a more meaningful way, while continuing to support causes connected to her work in the US.

Harry prepares for a busier return

While Meghan concentrates on settling the family and gradually rebuilding her charitable connections, Harry is expected to take a more active public role.

The Duke of Sussex is due to resume engagements with organisations and charities he supports, including the annual WellChild Awards. He is also expected to increase his involvement with the Invictus Games ahead of the 2027 event in Birmingham.

There have also been reports that Harry could take part in a charity skydive after making a promise to veteran Ed Marshall, 102, during a visit to Toronto, Canada, last November.

The planned activities would give Harry a route back into public-facing charitable work while allowing the couple to maintain their status outside the working Royal Family.

Meghan’s possible return to acting

Alongside her charitable plans, Meghan is reportedly still in discussions over a possible role in The Gentlemen, Guy Ritchie’s Netflix drama, which is preparing to begin filming its third series.

Any acting return remains unconfirmed, with reports indicating that discussions are still at an early stage.

For now, however, Meghan’s immediate priority appears to be much closer to home: helping Archie and Lilibet adjust to their new schools and surroundings while gradually rebuilding her connections with charities and causes in Britain.

The couple’s return therefore appears to be unfolding in stages — with family life first, followed by a cautious re-entry into public and charitable work.
